We went to the City Palace because we heard the Crystal Room was a must-see. Well, we saw it. Can't really understand what all the fanfare was about. It's like 8 bucks more on top of the City Palace itself. Overall - meh. It's not horrible, but it's not amazing either. It's just okay. But a big wedding was about to get underway that night. That was more interesting than anything else to feel the buzz about the palace. The grounds really are lovely as a whole. So yeah. Go and kill an hour or so.

palace with a lot of history. You can spend a good part of the day here and lovely reataurant overlooking the lake, ideal to sip away or enjoy a meal.

When we entered the grounds of the City Palace, the sight of the lit-up Palace took our breath away. It stretched on and on and on. The sound and light show brought alive the history of Mewar and all it's glory. The next morning we eagerly went to see the Palace properly from inside. It was fascinating to know that the five floors have been constructed around a hill. In some parts the Palace is very special; the mirror room, the balconies, the paintings, the crystals etc. The narrow secret corridors are intriguing. Sadly, it is quite stark in most parts. Frankly, we expected to see more grandeur of interior decor. Overall, a well organised place

In an Iconic setting beside Lake Pichola this palace and its history doesn't disappoint. The views across to the lake are spectacular and the coloured glass is stunning and the frescoes are beautiful.
It's a large complex which can be tiring to tour, some steep steps.

The maharaja's palace is live example of the lavish life of monarchies in India. Not only this palace has a grand entry, it has lot of dovetailing with religion & culture. It is now commercialised & is minting money for the current owner the Maharaja of Udaipur
