We have always loved Udaipur, the beautiful white city of lakes. Normally we undertake our Nathdwara pilgrimage from Udaipur. We had dined earlier at Shiv Niwas & Fateh Prakash while staying at other hotels but this time we chose to stay at Shiv Niwas & booked a terrace suite. Shiv Niwas Palace is right next to Shambhu Niwas where HRH Arvind Singhji presently resides. The terraces had an amazing view of Lake Pichola, the Lake Palace Hotel & the Jag Mandir Gardens. They were a sunset point in themselves.
The food is excellent, they even served my son 'Profitroles' which I remembered from my earlier visit ( about 20 yrs ago). It had gone off the Menu but they made it for us What I really appreciated is their attitude to serve the guests , they will do anything within their capacity to make your stay pleasurable. This attitude is now missing in commercial towns like Mumbai, Delhi etc. Excellent room too
Only drawback -- inspite of taking a suite, my 15 yr old son had to share our room as our Terrace suite had two terraces & one big room. Other than that, great place to stay & feel like a king or as in my case-- a QueenMore
