“Royal experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

A must stay hotel once in one's lifetime , from the moment you are picked at the airport in a swanky jaguar or landrover till you are dropped back, its a rich and royal experience. The rooms/food/staff are all there just to make you feel like a royal person, the boats to the hotel ,the evening at the roof of the hotel ... And mind it the best time to be there is when pichola has water ...and not the forget watch the bond movie on dvd which was shot at this lovely hotel .

Thanks tajhotels for such an amazing experience

The charm of a bygone era, combined with modern facilities, incredibly obliging staff and meticulously maintained fountain and pool, made me feel like a princess. My view to the City Palace ... Priceless!

I've stayed at many Taj properties and Udaipur Lake Palace is by far the best. For those of you who have not researched, this is the summer home to Udaipur's ruler, currently Maharana Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar. The property is on 100 year lease to Taj hotels. Due to this agreement it's Taj hotels duty to keep the property exactly as Udaipur royalty have experienced all these years.

Taj staff truly made us feel like royalty from the greeting upon arrival at boat station, boat ride to property, greeting at property by host and man with lovely traditional Rajasthan mustache holding decorative sun umbrella, rose petals being thrown down walking up to hotel, gorgeous room with antique touches, fruit in room, sweets, gifts, courteous staff, view of city palace, peaceful, flute playing in morning, luxurious pool area with bougainvillaeas cascading down and private enclosed hot tubs, Versace china and silverware in dining area, and staff that step aside in a line when you pass. All nice touches for a truly exquisite stay to make you feel as if you are guests of Maharana Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar.

There are many sites too see, you can walk to city palace and tons of wonderful shopping. Hire a car service to visit the breath taking Ranakpur Jain temple 2 hours away: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranakpur There's a location in the temple where it's believed if you make a wish it will come true. I strongly encourage this trip, it's a once in a life time experience at this marvelous hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a city palace lake view room.

Although the bathrooms could do with some updating this historic place has a charm of its own.

The hotel and setting is just spectacular. Service was incredible and the restaurants are wonderful. They even surprised my husband on his birthday with a special cake and candies. The boat trip across the lake was beautiful and the staff were suburb. Would stay there again.

Having lived in India for 2 and a half years all of my friends have consistently rated this as their best India experience.... It's a small intimate hotel so if you want a resort don't stay here, it's ideal for couples. The staff really could not do enough.... showered with rose petals when you arrive. They also organised some excellent excursions for us.

The food and wine list were also excellent... overall it completely lived up to the hype. They also do an excellent pay for 2 nights get a third night free offer which i would recommend taking them up on.
