Owner description: Pichola Lake is one of the most beautiful and picturesque lakes of Rajasthan, India. Located in the heart of the city, Pichola Lake is the oldest and one of the largest lakes of Udaipur. Pichola Lake is enveloped by lofty Palaces, temples, bathing ghats and elevated hills on all its sides. In the southern part of this lake, there is a hill that is known as Machhala Magra and one can see glimpse of Eklinggarh Fort from here. The City Palace of Udaipur broadens along the eastern banks of this lake. Built by Jagat Singh, Mohan Mandir is situated in the north-east corner of Lake Pichola. Lake Pichola comprises several islands that accompany the calm waters of the lake. The world-renowned Lake Palace is perfectly located on the Jag Island of this tranquil lake. Even the Jag Mandir, another destination of tourists, is located on an island of this lake. Above all, a trip to Pichola Lake would be incomplete with a boat ride. The pristine blue waters of the lake leave a soothing impact on the spectator. At the time sun-set, a boat ride in this lake is sufficient to enthrall anyone.

“Beautiful!”

Lake is beautiful! Best time to visit is sunset time that is around 5.30 pm in the evening. Sun sets are spectacular. The boat quality is not that good but the ride very serene and calming.

“Lovely both at day and night”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

The Lake Pichola is the protagonist of Udaipur. Without it, there woundn't be Udaipur neither. You can visit the lake from many angles and take even beat rides on it. I suggest to take a rooftop restaurant at night and enjoy the sight of the lake.

“Lovely views of Udaipur”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

We took the boat ride from the front of the city palace (tickets - Rs 300 - sold at the city palace entrance) It is a very pleasant boat ride and affords one the opportunity of seeing the city from a totally different angle. The hotels, washing ghats, city place etc. are well worth seeing from the water. The boat gets close to the Lake Palace hotel and then docks at Jag Mandir where one can relax and have a drink or meal. A relaxing and very pleasant experience.

“Worth a visit with just for its neighbours!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

Lake Pichhola as a stand alone lake is just average but what lies on its sides makes it worth visits and visits. The City Palace stands majestically on one side and on the middle of the lake is Jag Mandir Palace.

We took an evening boat trip (Rs. 500) from the City Palace complex. You can take the boat anytime after 2.00pm and stop at Jag Mandir and enjoy its beauty. Suggest you take a 4 pm boat for the sunset cruise and enjoy your sunset leisurely at Jag Mandir Palace and take any boat from there, There is o restriction on the time you can spend on the island as long as you are in time fo the last boat from there!
