“A typical government culture”
Reviewed April 4, 2012

Rooms are spacious and clean but certainly not pleasant. The furniture is very old..but certainly not antic. If you are used to saying in private hotels please go for private hotel instead of RTDC.

Room service ok. The room rent includes breakfast for the next morning. Breakfast tastes good but do not expect fancy items. If you like food when hot you may not get it. Be first to get the breakfast ...if you like hot.

The reality is the staff in the canteen is corrupt. Why I say this because the drinking water they provided me was horrible it smelled pungent. Therefore I bought a 1L bottle of Aqua-Fena (MRP Rs 15) for Rs 24 and believe me I has a bill for this. It says Rate Rs 20 instead of MRP Rs 15 plus 15% tax Rs 3 and serv tax 3.09% Rs 0.62 Total Rs 24 instead of 15. When asked for clarifications they say these are government rates. Unbelievable but true.

Do not pay bills for room service to the serving waiter.. he will insist but don't. He will not have required change for you. Ask him to add to the room number.

stayed at this hotel in March 12. Having previously stayed at this place we selected this as we had a nice enough experience the last time. However this time we really felt the effect of the government attitude.

Reached the hotel at 1020pm and there was no one to take my luggage up to the 2nd floor. We had to take it out ourselves.
The room that we had got wasn't cleaned in days and had inches of dust all over the room.
All the staff had left for the night and no room service nothing. Even when I wanted to get milk for my kids I had to go inside the kitchen and request the staff there for 2 glasses.
Had I been staying for more than a night , I would have moved to more comfortable hotel the next morning.
The washrooms were dirty as hell. And the buckets, well let me not even comment. Toilet paper seemed like a luxury.

The good point of the hotel is that the linen was clean.
Being a government run property It was safe.

Would I stay again at this hotel. Well hard to say. I would would definitely try searching for better quality hotel and if nothing else available and I would have to spend just a night. I might go here again.

I had stayed here with my wife and my kid for two nights in December (New Years eve ) few days ago at this hotel. The hotel rooms were clean, spacious, bathroom was clean ( but dont expect it to be as clean as a 3* or 5* hotel). I visited this place with very low expectations taking into consideration that it is a Govt. managed property, however the rooms turned out to be very clean, well maintained with curtains, LCD TV, heaters/AC and well furnished. The location of this hotel was very convinient because it was centrally located, so it was very easy for us to visit most of the places in Udaipur within short span of time. Room service was also very prompt. There are no facilities like childrens play area, garden, swiming pool or any other activities for entertainment of guests. In case if you are planning to visit this place on some spl occassion like Diwali, New Year or any other season, then this is not the right place in a festive season. This place is value for money because of its location, cleanliness and its low room tariffs. It appears more like a School from outside rather than a hotel. This place is advisable for those travellers for whom facilities of the hotel doesn't (gym, garden, swimming pool, wifi connection,) doesn't matter.

Room Tip: Choose a Superior A/c room that's really good one.

I visited this Hotel with my family to stay for 1 night.

Location: The hotel has ample parking area and the location is peaceful. A drive to the City Palace from here took 15-20 minutes so it is not far from the main Udaipur city area.

Rooms: Rooms and the restrooms were clean. Restroom doors locks were very messy (difficult to close/ open). Rooms were spacious - beds were comfortable but nothing luxurious or lavish at all.

Food, General Service, etc: Things move slow in general but a small Tip may help things get done faster. Food taste was not good, quality below average. Morning breakfast was also below average.

Again, if looking for just an overnight stay where you'd be out all the time, they may be a good economical option (even in that situation, I would suggest to evaluate other hotels) but for anyone who's looking for a great stay experience, this is not a place to go.

I stayed in this hotel with my wife for 2 days from 07/11/2011. The hotel is managed and run by RTDC (Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation. I booked the hotel online through their web site. The hotel is very close (about 2 kms) from Udaipur Railway Station.

As we arrived early at about 8 am, there was a bit delay in check-in which is understandable. We were asked to wait in a room at the far corner of the lounge which had attached bathroom, Sofa and TV. We freshened up and checked in after about one hour. The room was an ac room – quite spacious with standard furniture, cable TV, phone etc. and there was a balcony too, however it was not properly cleaned. The bathroom was also spacious with running 24- hour hot and cold water and bathroom facilities were ok. The room service was ok though not very prompt.

The hotel is a 3 storey property but there was no lift – you have to use the staircase which was pretty steep and elderly couple may feel a bit inconvenient. The hotel had very large space as frontage. This is one good aspect of all RTDC owned hotels which you may not get always even in luxury hotels. You can stroll in morning and evening without getting out of hotel compound.

The food was ok. Breakfast was complimentary. The Dining Hall however was

The hotel Tariff for a double bedded room is Rs.2000/ per day – a value for money. As it is government property, it is safe to stay with family.

I recommend this hotel for family stay at a very reasonable price.

Room Tip: As there is no lift choose a 1st. floor or Ground Floor room.

Being a state government hotel one can be reasonably sure that one wont be cheated by the hotel for few bucks,. Best thing is that it is suitably located close to Bus stand and Railway Station from where one can visit all the attractions of Udaipur. Moreover when one would compare the services extended by the room rent it is easily one of the best hotel the re.

I must add though--- the hotel has to pull itself for the maintenance. Food is very cheap in the restaurant.

Room Tip: Book rooms on ground floor if opting for Non ac rooms.

This is agood hotel, very well located in the proximity of Chetak Circle,
Fatehsagar & Pichola Lakes. The basic infrastructure is good, but has now
fallen in bad shape. Apparently no care is taken to maintain the rooms.
The bathrooms in particular are in bad shape. With leaking taps and poorly
functioning toilets.
The staff is inefficient, unhelpful and unfriendly and appear to be doing
a favour letting you stay at Kajri!! there is no adherence to schedules: breakfast
is supposed to be available from 7.30 am but does not appear in the dining
room well past 8.30 am!!
