We visited this place in a group in the month of August, and being off season the hotel was deserted. The staff is courteous and helpful but the service was pathetic. Room service was lacking and They took ages to serve. The buffet was very average and not up to what was expected. During the 3 days we stayed, the menu was same every day and nothing to write about. The rooms are spacious and clean. And the bathrooms are superb..
Overall the place was decent considering the off season discounts.

Tip# carry mosquito repellents for kids because there were a lot of insects and mosquitoes.

Had a wonderful 3 night stay here in January 2013. Very welcoming, traditional and laid back. Room was wonderful, separate study/sitting room, amazing bathroom with sunken bath, outside patio with shower and not overlooked by anyone. Very peaceful and gardens lovely. Nice pool (though very cold....but all tend to be in India!). Food buffet throughout stay but good quaity indian food always. If you wanted more european there was always something to have but not sure the quality would have been as good as the local food. Cooked frest indian breads in front of you, so much better than at home. Would happily go back again.

We spent 1 night in April 2011 at the Vivanta by Taj in Ranthambore and our experience was quite bad. At first the hotel is really charming and impressing, a real welcome to the adventures to be experienced in Ranthambore. The gardens are really relaxing and beautiful. However the rooms and dining are terrible. Rooms are dirty and not well maintained. There was some hair in one of our beds and an insect in the towels. The place needs to be spayed against insects. The dining was really bad in terms of variety of food, taste, and cleanliness. We had to wipe all utensils on the table with an antiseptic. One of us had a mosquito in the omelet and when complained about it the hotel staff acted as this was something normal, so we stopped eating and luckily we had some biscuits. Needless to say that the hotel did not have any bottled imported water, which was a must!

Hi ,
Having traveled a lot around the world in many cities and many big hotels, I must admit I have never seen such a personal service ever.
The staff is extremely courteous and very helpful. Since we came here in the off season there was hardly anyone in the hotel, in fact we were alone the first day. The rooms were very clean, the property was very well taken care of. The moment you enter the hotel you feel like you are a pat of its history. The staff is very proud of the royal heritage and very willing to share their knowledge.
The staff went out of their way to make us feel extra comfortable and not for a moment did we feel any service lapse due to lesser number of guests.
The lunch was on demand and even though we were the only ones they made sure we get whatever we ask for, irrespective of whether it was a part of the menu. They prepared a very special Rajasthani dinner for us which has to be one of the best meals I ever had. The manager asked us to join him in his office where he shared the pics of his favorite panther baby, which the Rangers had saved after its mother's death and that he and his family had come to adore. I have never seen such a helpful and lovely Staff. On the top of it , we managed to spot a tiger in off season. It was like a cherry on the top of an otherwise perfect vacation.
Thanks Taj for making this stay so special for me and My Husband.

This was the third time we stayed at Taj Sawaimadhopur lodge and it is still as good as ever. The staff was good and always eager to be of help. Rooms were comfortable and extremely cosy especially after the jungle safaris in the peak summer. The framed pictures of the Maharajah of Jaipur with Maharani Gayatridevi alongwith the British royalty including the Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip makes interesting viewing with all of them in their hunting clothes standing in front of their 'Trophies' of 3 dead tigers. Lots of birds can be sighted in the lawns and trees.

We were here for 2 nites as part of a travel package to India. This lodge feels like part of a park, it has comfortable rooms, and huge outdoor gardens (and a gardener who was delighted to give us a tour of his domain). The rooms were spacious, older, and comfortable. We did have some laundry done while present and it came back in great shape, but with a nice price tag. The food service was good, more limited selections than you would find in a huge hotel, and much more intimate. We enjoyed watching the breads made by hand and cooked over an open fire and some pleasant entertainment on a patio at dusk.

We a attended a lecture on tigers given by the manager while we were present and of course went off to try to see them. We weren't lucky enough to do that, but we did really enjoy our stay here.
