Vivanta by Taj - Sawai Madhopur Lodge

This was the third time we stayed at Taj Sawaimadhopur lodge and it is still as good as ever. The staff was good and always eager to be of help. Rooms were comfortable and extremely cosy especially after the jungle safaris in the peak summer. The framed pictures of the Maharajah of Jaipur with Maharani Gayatridevi alongwith the British royalty including the Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip makes interesting viewing with all of them in their hunting clothes standing in front of their 'Trophies' of 3 dead tigers. Lots of birds can be sighted in the lawns and trees.

Good rooms and excellent location. The Best place to make trip with family and being so close to city and national park one must take this as good option to relax, Service is good and food is ok and you are can enjoy lot of open spaces.

Highly recommended for security and comfort to explore the tiger country

We were here for 2 nites as part of a travel package to India. This lodge feels like part of a park, it has comfortable rooms, and huge outdoor gardens (and a gardener who was delighted to give us a tour of his domain). The rooms were spacious, older, and comfortable. We did have some laundry done while present and it came back in great shape, but with a nice price tag. The food service was good, more limited selections than you would find in a huge hotel, and much more intimate. We enjoyed watching the breads made by hand and cooked over an open fire and some pleasant entertainment on a patio at dusk.

We a attended a lecture on tigers given by the manager while we were present and of course went off to try to see them. We weren't lucky enough to do that, but we did really enjoy our stay here.

Everything you can expect from a lodge outside a wildlife park. Excellent service, simple good food, plenty for kids to do swim, poll table, carrom board, bike, run about etc.
I would stay here always.

We arrived here from Delhi after a 5 hour journey by train. A very good welcome and a lovely room opposite the lawns. Spent the afternoon on safari, did another the next day and saw a tiger which was excellent. We had 2 nights full board at the hotel. Food was good although I do not normally like a buffet this was much better than normal. Staff were always helpful and friendly and nothing as too much trouble. pool was excellent and very welcome in the heat (over 4o degrees). Definitely recommend this for all ages.

We reached there in the early morning but the hotel staffs were really courteous to allot an upgraded suite well before check in time to make us comfortable. The Royal hunting lodge was definitely well maintained by Taj. The tall trees, the chirping birds, the sprawling lounge and spreading green were Hearts delight. The only downside was that they have only one restaurant which serves everything. Even though the buffets were elaborate and the food quality was quite superb, and the ambiance of the dining hall was terrific, you had the feeling of a monotonous refrain. The suite was breath taking laced with all the modern amenities and the bathroom was spacious. We stayed there for three nights and enjoyed every moment. We liked especially the beautiful garden, lawn, the tiny swimming pool and the open lounge. We have had four drives for Jungle Safari at Ranthambore and each drive was memorable. We could see the tiger (T-24), the largest in the forest and this sighting made our stay at this lodge all the more fascinating. We did experience wet weather there and the view of Rainy Ranthambore was spectacular. In summary even though we were completely drenched. The hotel authorities are well advised for extending a helping hand to the safari goers with raincoats, umbrellas, water and snacks on chargeable basis if needed, to make the safari all the more enjoyable. Still, it was a memorable stay midst green under a mix of hot sun and heavy rain as well.

Room Tip: Middle suites are beautiful.

We reached the lodge at 10.00 hrs. on 24 April 2013 , quite earlier than the scheduled check in time of 14.00 hrs.
The front desk executive welcomed us with a warm smile and offered us a welcome drink. He made us comfortable in the lounge and was quite apologetic in mentioning that the rooms are being readied and we may have to wait for a little time.
We passed our time in exploring the lodge grounds. Swimming pool was clean and open but secluded from the prying eyes.
True to his word we were taken in the buggy to our rooms. Room size majestic, décor princely and rest room big enough. Being constructed by the erstwhile rulers the rooms oozed royal touch of class. The bed linen and toiletries were up to mark so there was no reason to complain. One could feel the richness of the lodge by the layout of the rooms and other amenities provided.
As far as the food was concerned, the taste quite good, ambience of the restaurant superb with a local musician playing his instrument during the lunch & dinner time.
As we were to go for the wildlife safaris the executive got our reservations confirmed with the forest departments and we were picked up for our safari from the hotel itself.
Overall experience, manager, executives & staff courteous . Rooms majestic, food just right . So what more one could ask for.
