This is a great hotel. Enviably located on the fringes of the reserve forest it is a huge property. The rooms are basic, clean and neat. The pluses are the incredible views. We were on the 1st floor and both our rooms had *huge* balconies overlooking the forest area and the town further away. Sighting nilgai, sambar are a staple deal. In fact on our second day evening, the male tiger T24 (Ustad) was spotted along the drive from the gate to the hotel. Some excited guests shared pictures they had captured. We weren't disappointed because we'd gotten lucky the same morning with an incredible sighting of T19 (Krishna) walking down a hill right past our canter into the lake in zone 3.

To resume with the hotel - the staff are friendly and nice. We organised our safaris through the reception. Sometimes they're helpful about organizing it sometimes not. We only got booked on canters but were lucky even then in zone 3.

Being a government run hotel, they easily have the largest property in Sawai Madhopur. Evenings are lovely on the balconies/terraces - surrounded by the sounds of crickets and the wind blowing through the forest.

Room Tip: 106 and 105 were great despite the reviews about the top floor rooms. They have huge balconies and w...

we went in july 13 which was actually an off season in swaimadhopur because the santuary is closed for three months. the hotel was empty. we were two couples . had an adventures stay. we had a true feel of jungle. a pure jungle factor. very nice rtdc location. not a luxurious place but best for those looking for real adventure. nice view from the terrace when the rain is falling on you. overall a different experience.

Room Tip: take rooms on the first floor close to terrace because terrace has a unique view

Amongst the other fancy places to stay in Sawai Madhopur, that boast of better hospitality/facilities, the location of this RTDC property makes this place a winner hands down – 2 kms. inside the national park, on a hilltop surrounded by forest offering spectacular view of hills, forest and the city. You get to view deers, sambhars, peacocks, rabbits and many species of birds around at any point of time and if you are lucky, as narrated by the staff out there, you may also be able to cite tiger from the balcony itself.

We stayed at the 3rd floor which gave us the added advantage of the view of the forest/city from the personal balconies of our rooms. Yes, one has to climb the stairs of this heritage property with no lifts to enjoy the morning cup of tea/evening time in the large terraces on each floor listening to the jungle sounds with awesome views all around.

Do not expect anything lavish but the rooms are spacious, clean & comfortable and the décor/facilities basic with colour TV and hot water available 24/7. You may find lizards & insects in the room/bathroom.

Food choice is limited – there is buffet spread for breakfast, lunch & dinner (included in the rates) but the quality is reasonably good.

The staff is very helpful, courteous & keen to make you comfortable. They make arrangements for the Jungle Safari, if the guests so desire.

Nutshell, we enjoyed our stay out there.

Room Tip: If you do not have any problem climbing the stairs, opt for the 3rd floor for awesome view.

Awesome location, heritage structure, right in the jungle, but that's it !!
The rooms are poorly done , cockroaches everywhere, linen stinks, food is terrible,
bugs every where, apart from this the rates are exorbitant for a RTDC property, for the same amount you can get many times better hotels. Please be careful, I paid for two nights, but just checked out after one nights stay. Terrible experience.

We stayed at the hotel in Feb 2014 for 3 nights. This is an RTDC property with a beautiful location. Its almost like living inside the national park. We had deers (spotted and sambhar deers!) strolling around our hotel along with beautiful peacocks. They told us that they spot a leopard once in a while as well.

The rooms are nice. The first two nights we were given a smaller room as the property was full and we reached in the evening. But the hotel shifted us to a nice big room on our last night on their own which was very sweet of them. Ask for rooms on the third floor - they have a nice view and are very airy. But there are no lifts, so you will have to walk up three flights of stairs!

Don't expect the hotel to be fancy. It is basic but clean and comfortable. The hotel gives only an "all meals included" rate plan which is good as you are so far away from habitat that getting out of the hotel for food will in any case be very difficult. The food menu is a fixed buffet every day including local rajasthani delicacies like kadhi, gatta etc.

The staff is very courteous and helpful and they even made some simple rice/daal and kichdi for my 4 year old as he was finding the food a bit spicy.

The hotel reception co-ordinated our safari at a reasonable cost as well.

Overall a comfortable stay in a beautiful location!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the third floor - they have a nice view and are very airy. They also open put to a...

Jhoomar Baori is a heritage property tucked away in the midst of a fairly thick forest, abutting the Ranthambore National Park. This makes it the most authentic jungle experience in the area.

Though run by the Government of Rajasthan, the Guest does not experience the expected inefficiencies of a government operated property.

The building itself oozes old world charm, and thankfully has been preserved as built. Climbing the stairs to the rooms straight away transports you to a different era.

Rooms are very spacious. Suites are huge. There are large terraces on each floor. Great place, to watch the sun fade away, into twilight, with the moonbeams eventually bathing the surrounding forest.
On the property there are a fair amount of resident birds and animals - prey as well as predators. Don't be surprised to have your slumber punctuated by alarm calls from the wild, interspersed with rustling leaves, cracking twigs and even the odd growl...

The food though limited in terms of choice, is outstanding and homely. The staff are very pleasant and keen to enable a satisfactory guest experience, which you don't normally expect from a government property.

The best location in the area. Simply unbeatable. The staff were gracious and courteous - surprising considering the fact that its a government owned property.
They helped out, albeit within the strict mandates permitted to them and the narrow leeways they could take advantage of.
Food quality was excellent, although the menu was limited, mandated by government policy.
Rooms were neat, if bare. Hot water - 24/7 was unexpectedly pleasant.
Expect no lavish treatment....children-wise, our tot was more than happy feeding the birds and squirrels, who responded in kind...no play areas, but fun she had.
All in all, we were made comfortable to the best degree possible, which is narrow, considering the 'government - stamp' we found on each and every element of the resort - even their almost-domesticated 'stag' who comes for a daily graze to the property.

Room Tip: we opted for the deluxe room...expensive in its own right...304 was right at the top with a personal...
