“This park is a big joke”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2013

Safari in the morning on a Jeep with 4 other guests (6 in total). Driver and "guide" - a guide?- unfriendly and not helpful, very short safari (maybe 2 hours in total) and all we saw were tourists feeding birds (in a national park, it is forbidden but who cares) and our driver and guide stopping for an endless smoke break in a crap spot (it is forbidden to smoke in the park but who cares again?) No tigers, no animals, trash and cigarette buts, just pathetic...not worth the trip at all

“Saw the Tiger”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

It was a brilliant moment when she walked out of the grass on the afternoon of my Birthday. For those of you who have followed the life of Machly, we saw her 4th and last litter daughter.

“Like game parks? Go to Africa.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

On the plus side its fairly close to Delhi, picturesque, and you have a good chance of seeing tiger. However I have been twice and the first was a tented camp - in a garden! hardly wilderness or even a pretence to it. The second was Sanctuary Hotel which is subject to a separate (poor) review. There is a small army of people ready to fleece the unsuspecting. The park is zoned and as far as I can see some hotels get the best zones and its clear that some zones do not have tiger because the guides cannot be bothered to even look for them. Also they are fixated on Tiger so if you are lucky enough to get a good viewing you'll find they will not be keen to explore other areas or other wildlife options on a second trip.

Frankly if you have the time or money go to Chetwin (Nepal) or Orissa or Bhandigarh and consider an elephant safari. India has a long way to go to match Africa for a safari experience.

“Bumpy and brilliant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

There are different sizes of jeep, that take you round the park. We were in the large ones, as we were in a large group and these can be quite bumpy, I think the smaller jeeps would be a bit better but anyway you're on safari. There are different routes around the park and you don't get to pick which ones you travel on, even the guides don't know until just before you leave. We travelled on route 1 the first time, which is quite hilly and on route 4 the second time which is much flatter. This was the route that we saw a Tiger. Points to remember, You need a hat, sun cream and plenty of water and if you've got one then a large cushion. Good luck and hope you see a Tiger.

“Tigers not the only great thing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

Seeing the tiger at the park was fantastic but so was seeing the mongoose, alligators, monkeys, birds of all kinds, plants.... The tiger we saw was magnificent. Our government guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. The ride back through the jungle, in the rain over crazy paths was something out of a movie that no picture can do justice to!
