Very beautiful area and well kept. Did't mind that tigers were hiding because the experience was just great

I hope you don't get sent to zone 9, it's along way away and there is nothing there. Zone 5 in the mornig was much better, but it is pot luck if you see anything.

A visit Ranthambore is a gamble as to wheather you see any tigers or not. We were very lucky on our first drive, almost turning for home, we spotted 'T24', a seven year old male who rewarded our patience by walking in front of our jeep and along the road ahead of us. An unforgetable ten to twenty minutes! This was in zone 8. The next safari drive after a heavy downpour of rain in the early morning we saw a sloth bear and a shy leopard.

Unfortunately, we did not spot any tigers during our safaris, but that is nature. The park is beautiful with rugged scenery and landscape. In the absence of tigers, the guides helped to spot other animals.

The safari itself can be a bumpy ride, so be prepared for this. Also, we travelled during the cold January season, so we suggest wrapping up with a scarf and hat, although there are people who sell these at the entrance. The group you end up with in a canter can vary, from small quiet groups to noisy families with young children.

We did find the experience to be quite pricey in the end, because although you book your vehicle and dates on the park website, there are additional fees when you arrive, such as fuel and guide fee, and paying someone from the hotel to confirm your tickets in the morning. We also found it impossible to book a gypsy instead of a canter online. Our hotel staff suggested it was because these are reserved for VIPs, which we found disappointing.

Overall, although we were not lucky to spot a tiger, it might be a suggestion to check which season is best to go, such as during hot weather when the tigers look for water to cool down.

We spent all morning in this park recently and did not see any tigers. It felt like being in a ratty zoo or safari park with no money spent on making the road smoother, loos better etc for the paying punter. Deer, monkeys and kingfisher were spotted. The guides do their best to hike up any vague sightings, but it is a disappointing visit. We spent nearly an hour in the one position looking at a tiger in the distance , or not. The guide could have moved on but we thought it all a bit of an expensive hoax.
