This was my first time to come here and man it was so much better than I expected. We got lucky with a big snow storm bringing about 6-7 fresh inches te day before we got there. So they only had about 20 runs open. But the trails were some of the best I have been on. The lifts had super short lines and the employees were all very welcoming. There just isn't much to do outside of skiing/snowboarding. Limited places to eat and hang out. Little grocery store is very nice and close. Prices were exceptional if the full mountain had been open. Should have been a discount since less than half the mountain was open.

We took 5 kids ranging from 11 months to 13 years and 5 adults to Angel Fire. We stayed in one of the condos closer to the bottom of the mountain. The condo was quiet and fully furnished with all the necessities. The only complaint is it got very cold in the living room
At night (but to be expected with a wall of windows and the temp dropping to -30 at night). The ski school was full and we had to pay for private one hour lessons for everyone who skiied. This did NOT include lift tickets for the day like regular ski school would...and of course regular ski school was less expensive. Private lesson=waste of money. The kids were not even shown how to use ski lift. The snow on the mountain was great...little to no ice. Food at the Village Haus was crazy expensive ($5 for a piece of pizza), but you will happily pay for the convenience. Mountain and ski shops laid out well...not a far walk anywhere. There are even shuttles if need be. If you stay in a condo, be sure to stock up before getting there as the one small grocer is proud of their stuff. Tubing was fun ($25 for hour and a half but they limit groups, so call early).
Kids had a ball, and that is what matters in the end

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the different venues. While I am not familiar with the specifics of the lesson you and your family took, I am going to share you feedback with our Director of Ski School. We do have many lodging opportunities here in the Angel Fire Resort area and I am happy that you enjoyed the unit booked for you. The couple of days that we had the -30 degree temperatures made it difficult to keep anything warm. Looks like we are in for another couple nights of -15. brrrr.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and I do hope that you return to Angel Fire Resort again in the near future.
Sincerely,
Joe Kendall

Took my daughter snowboarding here and the staff was very nice, prices better than Colorado, and not overpacked. To little parking though. They have a shuttle but there is really only two shuttle stops.

Our stay at the Angel Fire Resort was outstanding- from the front desk, room, lounge, and restaurants. We stayed in one of the newly remodeled rooms, and it was very nice. The room was very large-the Executive Suite (#302) with 2 queen beds and sitting area with full size sofa and 2 leather chairs with ottoman. The beds were very comfortable, and I have never stayed at a hotel that had towels the size of beachtowels. We ate dinner at Elements Lounge at the Angel Fire Country Club. The food and view were great. The building is beautiful. We also ate at the Legends Grill--the food was great there too.

We love Angel Fire! We usually go snow skiing there but this last summer went to vacation there. We went in July and it is wonderful! In Ok it was 103 degrees but there it was in the high 70's!!!!! The cabins are very good. They are clean and they added a bathroom upstairs so it is nice to have two bathrooms. The furniture is a little outdated but something you would expect from a cabin. They take lots of abuse from snow skiing and fishing etc. There are zip lines, and mountain bike trails in the summer. We took the chair lift up and then back down. We drove around the enchanted circle and then we went to Elizabethtown. The lady there was very nice.

Room Tip: Any of the cabins are cool and the lodge is awesome too. They are all part of the resort. The cabin...

Have stayed here several times. Last Spring Break '12 was most recent, the week before they closed for the season. The whole area seems to have fallen into a sad state of disrepair. The condos are in need of paint, railings need to be fixed, etc. The lodge is not up to standard with any ski lodges you find in Colorado Rockies but it has the potential to be!! It's clean. The common areas are nice. The employees are friendly but ill-informed (Example: Basic questions: "What time do the lifts start running tomorrow? "Got several different answers). Room not ready at 4pm. No help with luggage. No extras such as room service, cable, in room movies, etc. No organized activities in the evenings. I was really disappointed that they had not upgraded the lodge. I "hear" that some rooms were upgraded, but not the one our family got. Ordered a cot when we reserved room, you have to pay for cot. Cot was not there :( It's just a poor level of service and it disappointed me. ) I will go back to Angel Fire as I love the crowd that skiis there, lots of friendly Okies and Texans but I wish they could upgrade to the lodge to be as outstanding as the slopes and the beautiful views.

Room Tip: Chose a room that looks out at the mountain, not the indoor pool.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. We appreciate our guests sharing their thoughts and ideas, as it assists in the continuous process of change. In the last year we completed a renovation of 46 of our guestrooms, pool and Lobby areas, with a goal of working on different areas of the property; be that rooms and or common areas. In addition, we are also making improvements to the grounds and outside venues.

I am confident that when you return this winter that you will see these improvements, which will make for a more positive experience.

Thank you in advance for returning and I look forward to seeing you.

Sincerely,
Joe

Tried the new zip lines in August and it was a great experience. They take up to 12 people on the hour from 8am to noon. There are 5 zip lines so you hike for 5 minutes and then take a zip line. I understand they are at the highest elevation in the country, about 11,000 feet along the ski trails. The experience takes about 2 hours and the longest zip line is 1800 feet where you get up to speeds of 55mph. A must do in the state of New Mexico.
