Between the options of HRH group's Aodhi and Club Mahindra and lower level guest houses at Kelwara, Kumbhal Castle is a nice mid-range option at about 2K for deluxe rooms. The staff at reception is not very smiling and hot water starts in the morning.
But the hotel is clean and rooms are very spacious and well-maintained. We took 3 interconnected double-bedded rooms with balcony which had a fairly good decor. Though the entrance to the rooms was quite weird but with our group of three families, this was not a problem.
The dinner we ordered was served on the terrace accompanied by traditional Rajasthani dance and music and campfire which made our day. The night at the terrace was very beautiful with full moon and we enjoyed a lot.
The dinner was OK, though the serving size of soups was very small and prices a bit on higher side. The breakfast quality was also good.
All in all, a value for money place and much better option for families than many other hotels in the locality.More
