First the warning : This is not a place for people who are too lazy to climb stairs (as there are plenty of them here). If you are travelling with old or weak kneed people, select the room on ground floor. I was travelling with senior citizens and the owner arranged to serve all our meals outside our room. Apart from the climbing, this Haveli ticks all the right boxes : Location very close to the fort, roof-top restaurant with good view of the back of the fort, rooms in traditional decor, nice food and service. The location gives you an amazing feeling of being part of old-town blue-city Jodhpur. For our Mehrangarh fort visit, we took advice from locals and took an auto to the main gate of the fort having a lift right at the entrance. This avoided a lot of walking on steep uphill roads. The clock-tower and main market is a 15 min walk.

The Singhvi was so inexpensive that my daughter and I opted for separate rooms. The staff were fantastic arranging everything from our laundry to yoga classes and even sending out for another bottle of gin when the first ran dry. The food was marvellous and so was the position, quiet yet so close to the Fort.

Room tip: Ask for a room off the first level courtyard.

Located in an alley right in front of the fort. Awesome view from the rooftop where meals are served as well.

The decor is simply amazing and the common room is so beautiful with ancient artifacts and a swing. Absolutely loved it.

Beds were comfy, hot water was working fine and so was the air con.

Staff were helpful in arranging my onward journey to Udaipur.

Stayed here for a couple of nights in a quieter more residential area than where most other tourist hotels seem around the central clock tower. Close to the cool fort, but a bit of a walk back from the centre. Probably the only downside was nowhere else close for a beer or dinner (though tuktuks were plentiful). On the 2nd night we wandered over to the mountain view hotel which dominated that part of Jodhpur but after waiting 30 minutes for a beer gave up and has beer and dinner at our hotel a 2nd night, which was tastyl but not a large selection.

Often a stay makes your trip. And this is certainly the case with singhvi's haveli.

We stayed in the deluxe room, which was as big as the view from the window.

What makes this place though is the view from the rooftop, which is second to none (perfect for people watching on rooftops).

What's more, you're a two minute stroll from one of the fort entrances and a five minute tuk tuk ride to the centre of the old city, where you can meet Omelette Man and sample one of his famous Omelettes.
