The Govind is a friendly little hotel with a great location. Just turn right out of the station, and 200m down the road there it is, right next to two massive trees at the side of the road, so easy to find. It gave me great pleasure to be able to breeze past the the touts, auto-rickshaw drivers and so on at the railway station (including the driver who insisted in following me down the street asking where I was going, that it was a long way to town, etc), knowing exactly where I was going.

Once in the hotel the welcome was friendly, and the room was clean and spacious. There's a pleasant rooftop restaurant with good food (but no fort view, this seems to have recently been obscured by a massive advertising hoarding on a nearby building) and even has wifi internet for a small fee.

The owner was happy to give his recommendations on things to do in town and the best way of getting around. It's only a short walk to the old town, but you'll probably be wanting to get an auto-rickshaw up the hill to the fort unless you start early in the morning.

Overall I had a pleasant stay at the Govind and would definitely stay again. Excellent value and service for the money.

I stayed two nights at Hotel Govind, I wouldn't say I was bowled away by it but it was friendly and clean, and good value for the price. The 'fort view' from the restaurant is fairly tenuous, but the restaurant itself was nice and good value. The room itself was clean and had a TV.

This is a great place to stay if you are looking for simple, convenient accommodations. The rooms are decent to good (clean, is what mattered, we paid 400 ruppee), the location next to the train station is excellent, the manager is extremely helpful and clearly loves Jodhpur enough to happily give out advice and recommendations, and the rooftop restaurant is good. A good, solid backpacker hotel in a fun town.

We stayed at the Govind Hotel in Jodhpur for several nights and were met at the rail station by a staff member from the hotel. The hotel is only 200 metres from the train station and so really handy for backpackers. Dorm accom is avail but we had a standard room for Rs 450 and it was clean and comfortable. Jagi, the owner, is really friendly helpful and a great source of local info. The hotel has a roof top restaurant and serves low cost meals with a good view of the fort.

It's often necessary in Jodhpur to take an early train and if this is combined with the late train from Jaisalmer staying 4 minutes walk from the station can be a good idea. The Govind is a good choice in these circumstances. The entrance is a bit dark and gloomy but the rooms are OK. The rooftop restaurant serves the usual travellers fare and is good value. The hotel is probably best suited to backpackers but it is OK for 1 night in transit. Management and staff are friendly and helpful.
