I went to Jaswant Thada at 5 a.m. to listen to Irish folk music and Scottish bagpipes. They sounded haunting in the dark and picked up tempo as the sun rose. One of the most memorable experiences of any music festival I have ever had. People wrapped in blankets on matteresses that had been placed there, hot sweet tea, stillness - oh! Dreamy.

We were there during the Sufi Spirit Festival and we heard Bhajans sung early in the morning in front of this beautiful building. It was pretty magical. We did not go inside.

The visit to this is worth a stop as it is walking distance from the fort.

gigantic monument. Elephant rides, guides to explain. Massive structure built on the top of a hill. Archaeologically a marvel.Well maintained as a heritage structure.

in audioguide to the Fort, this is sold as Rajasthani Taj Mahal. well, a little bit of hyperbole there. this is a wedding cake palace that shimmers like a French chateau from a distance, but once you get there (walking through a gauntlet of rickshaw drivers who want to charge you HOW MUCH? for a short shaded ten minute walk) there is nothing much inside or on the grounds. a quiet lawned chill spot (if weather is not punishingly hot).

Just 5 mins away from the fort, this is a very peaceful place used as the cremation ground. The structure is built of marble and has a nice garden and Lake around it making it a place to sit and relax.
