Mandore Guest House - a leafy resort.

The Mandor Guest house in Jodhpur, is outside the city, about 8km from the railway station. This is located just next to the Mandor Garden.

Spread over a huge area like a big garden, this guest house consists of several mud-huts built in typical Rajasthani style. They have not used any modern construction materials, and therefore you get a real feel of environment friendly home-stay.

There are nice sit-out areas and even tables to have your breakfast, lunch or dinner. The service here is rather slow but then who is in a hurry when on vacation!

The huts are nicely painted/decorated with local painting style and have attached toilets. Very comfortable to stay with family, children and friends.

Room Tip: Select the round-shaped huts just next to the restaurant. They are quieter.

This hotel is like a little oasis in the busy city. Each room had a lovely little outside sitting area looking into the garden. It had clean, comfortable rooms and good service. Nice bathroom well appointed, but slow hot water. The restaurant is terrific, with a great chef who cooks delicious Indian food.

First of all let me tell you that if you are looking to stay close to where all the action in Jodhpur is, then Mandore guest house is not meant for you. This guest house is about 10-12km far from Mehrangarh Fort (approx 25mins away), 30 mins away from the Airport and about 20 odd mins away from Railway Station.

The Guest house is located next to mandore gardens which is a bit isolated. However once you are inside the guest house you will love the friendly staff, gorgeous german shepherd and a cozy room which looks more like a mud hut from outside. The rooms have been done up pretty well and i love the spacious bathrooms.

The place is quite economical as compared to others. Food is decent. However the only handicap is the travel from main city area.

Room Tip: The rooms do not have a phone! Hence calling for room service etc is a bit cumbersome. Also the meal...

We decided to stay here as it would be a different experience . It's a good concept, however ..... need to be maintained properly.
On the website , they show you nice big rooms with good furniture both inside and outside in the garden space, and the bathrooms actually looked good with mordern fittings.
As we walked in , we were excited with the layout of the place. they showed us 2 rooms, the first was very small, smelly, and the bathroom horrible. The 2nd was a bit better than the first , the bathroom was more ventilated than the room iteslf. We chose the 2nd room , as they said they had no more rooms available and that this was the biggest one they had.
Let me tell you about the room first, very small, clausterphobic, had a half cut tree inside, dont know why... 2 chairs - wooden with no seat cushion. there was a big window between the room and bathroom. they had a white semi transparent shower curtian to pull across.
bathroom was more lighted than the room itself, no toileteries or even tissues in the room.
Outside our room were 2 very old and not comfortable looking chairs.
The garden looked good, we got mosquito bites as soon as we entered. there were 2 swings , and two takhts which are made to look pretty on the website.
In reality .... run down .
We left after 2 hrs, after getting something to eat at the restaurant. It was more breathable to sit in so we spent all the time there. Also found out during our chat with the restaurant staff that they do have rooms with better interiors.
A very disturbing experience. I do appreciate that someone would want to go with this concept, but i only wish they would actually maintain the condition of rooms and not overlook it.
Ofcourse, the guest house staff were least interested when we said we wanted to check out after 2 hrs. They didn't care and said it would be good for us.
I shall be posting pictures of our room aswell ... soon.

Dear Guests
Greetings
Thank you for the feedback.
I am really disappointed to know that you did not like the interior of room due to a natural tree which serves the purpose of a pole/lamp with tiny bulb for light inside the room for authentic ethnic look. The property is being reviewed since 2005 by travelers & I hope the management is quite aware of the privacy of on suite bath-room. I apologize as we were not able to meet your expectations since you were staying with high profile hotels –Vivanta by Taj and The Gateway Hotel during the same trip.
Thanks for appreciating charming exterior of the property.
With kind regards,
Surendra

I and my wife decided to stay at the mandore guest house based on the feedback on trip advisor. we were on a long road trip through rajasthan and the guest house provided a refreshing break from monotonous hotel rooms.the food is good and service is prompt.
the place it's tucked away from the city and if u don't have your own transport they do arrange one for you to go into the city. the place is idyllic, clean, green and quite. the staff is courteous, helpful and the owner Mr. Prateek is really humble and helpful. we recommend this place as THE place to stay in Jodhpur. keep up the good work...

I enjoyed staying at Mandore Guest House a lot. Staff is friendly, garden is breezy, food is recommended. The projects in the villages and schools surrounding Jodhpur initiated by the management of the guest house make for a interesting day trip.
