If stud farms, and bird watching, old hidden baolis, stunning palace lawns, intricate royal fountains, a private lake, dedicated service and bikes to explore it all are your idea of a holiday, the Balsamand Palace in Jodhpur is where you must head. We spent a good 3 days lingering in this monsoon palace-turned-hotel, belonging to the erstwhile Jodhpur royalty, exploring the various studs and dames owned by the royal family, tracing their exotic lieages, walking through the ample orchards on the estate and chasing pigeons across them, all the while living quietly in the quaint but thoughtfully converted stables-turned-guest rooms. Shooting birds through the lens on the many waterways cutting through the lawns as I cycled through using the bicycle they allow to anybody who wants was a gift to myself. We loved to bring in the sunsets overlooking the lake under the few gorgeously constructed chhatris in the palace wing of the estate.

On the flip side, the tea spead promised to us at the lake side however did not arrive, which might have been the icing on the cake. We kept waiting until it turned dark. We both were so looking forward to that.
Overall, the staff can be a little more responsive to guest requests and show more promptness.

But overall, we would love to be back. It was a wonderful stay and helped quiet down frayed city nerves.

If staying at Bal Samand Lake Palace (BSLP), reserve 1 day to explore the property itself.

A very beautiful, calm and serene property, that has been equally well-preserved and maintained. Away from the hustle-and-bustle of Jodhpur city, this place is a perfect place for early mornings and late evenings calmness. Well maintained gardens, freely roaming and dancing peacocks, birds of many types, stream of water, authentic stables and heavily ornamented windows welcome the guests, but, its the sitting next to Bal Samand Lake that steals the show.

Staff is very courteous, polite, prompt and helpful. Food is amazing. Property is well maintained.

Room tip: Wi-Fi connectivity can be an issue.

Services couldn't have been better.
Awesome heritage Value.
Natural beauty of lake..
The heritage restaurant, the peacock in their gardens, the horses in the resort, the stables turned into rooms, the old palace, the open air Bar-be-que restaurant.

The taste of food, everything is damn awesome about Bal Samand Lake Palace, and the management by WelcomHeritage of Jodhana Heritage is commendable..

We had a short stay at this property but must say it was extremely gratifying. The moment you enter, before the welcome drink, the peacock welcomes you with its wings spread and its enticing sound. The property is spread over 300 acres (is what they said). It has a palace converted to a hotel which offers splendid view of the Bal Samand Lake (Lake Palace hotel). The gardens offers lovely sights of different birds. If you have an eye for photography, the camera is going to be your constant companion here and will keep you busy. There is plenty to do here, you can enjoy the swimming pool or try horse riding. The property has got three restaurants to satiate your taste buds. A very good place to relax amidst nature. A must stay place for today's metro kids who are not used to sights and sounds of nature.
