Dhillon House

Dhillon house is a home stay cum hotel mix-housed in a residential property, with owner family living in the front and back square having multiple rooms in L shape offering professinal dining service but of course, at a hotel-restaurant rates! That way it is on the expensive side compared to identical facilities at hotels and your idea of budgeting vanishes in the air !
The problem with such a mix is, it is neither homestay type quiet nor having hotel type variety of choices.
For one,the dining-realxing square is so situated that the ground floor rooms can not even keep their windows open with continuous service movement and the guests occupying the chairs just in front not to speak of enjoying a relaxed evening or watching telly.
Secondly , after mornings, availability of water, particularly hot water, is an issue and since we had been in the winter days so it was a difficult situation.
Lastly, the location being a bit far away from the city centre, the outer area has some problem with the transportation accessability.

Room Tip: Please avoid ground floor rooms.

Dhillon House is ideal small hotel to stay and rest during journey through Rajasthan. Placed out of noise of the town it offers to guest hospitality, peace and fantastic home quisine, not to mention clean comfortable rooms. The host, Prof. B.S. Dhillon is real entusiast and expert of Indian Classical music.

Dhillon guest house is great place to stay with family. Its very clean and has all necessary facilities for travellers, including parking space for your car. Family is welcoming and service was decent. Hot water was available on request even in evening, which was very important in the cold winter.
In-house food is bit costly, but its good and home-like, serves the purpose, especially after you return home after day long tour. Locality is good and not very far away from main city.

We had taken 3 rooms for 1,400/- each. And we had paid 50% in advance.

Pros
1. Nice, clean rooms
2. The owner and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
3. The backyard of the house has ropes for washed clothes to dry (All of us were so happy seeing them)
4. Bus stop is at a walk able distance.

Cons
1. A little away from the city and spots (And so quiet and clean and empty roads)
2. Not many restaurants around
3. They serve home made food but because they cook it just for the few of us, the main course is slightly expensive. Breakfast and coffee are reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Best stay we had in Rajasthan. We loved it there.

We stayed at Dhillon's place for two night and had good experience. The rooms are neat and clean and the staff helpful. Location is little away from the main city but the place as such is nice and away from busy city. The tuk tuk rickshaw is a ripoff - bargain before getting in. Ideally should not charge more than Rs200 from Dhillon house to Umead Bhavan and drop at Mehangarh fort.

An impersonal and to the point service
Very reasonably priced and tucked away from the city centre by a couple of kms (easy to get an auto/rickshaw to travel to the Mehrangarh fort -highlight of our rajasthan trip)
The rooms and toilets are clean and basic- nothing fancy to write about-food served is simple home food to be prebooked and slightly on the higher side compared to the room charges.
NO problems whatsover-
similar to jaipur- please see take a reviewed driver from TA beforehand for longer distances for a taxi and not from the help there.

This is not a hotel; this is a homestay (they say Dhillon PG). The owner is an old gentleman, very friendly and fatherly (he is a retired professor). He comes and personally welcomes you.

Nice rooms, clean and nice facilities. There is a lawn and chairs. In all you feel homely.

The locality is superb. It is away from the city in a very peaceful Airforce area. If you have time, you just feel like going out and having a walk.

For food, they have less options (good for breakfast); but there is another restaurant (Ashok vatika - Veg) nearby where you'll get a lot of choices. I understand if you order in advance, they make you the food you want; but we didnt get a chance to try that.

The most important part about the place is their friendliness and their willingness to understand and help.
