“Peace and quiet”
Reviewed November 18, 2011

This hotel was a welcome oasis of calm in a quiet part of the city away from the hustle, bustle and pollution of the city centre. The hotel was set in lovely gardens and had a pool which I had all to myself when I went for a swim. I stayed in 2 rooms at the hotel both of which were extremely spacious and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was delicious although it took a while to arrive at the table. Some of the waiters were very young and inexperienced but in general the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. I would stay here again.

I had been informed by my travel company that this hotel was convenient to town but away from the hustle and bustle! How right they were. 100 rupees max in a rickshaw to the Clock Tower, maybe 150 rupees to the Fort, and always negotiable.
The food was above average, had my best poori and masala ommelette on the trip, but as previously mentioned by other reviewers, service was very slow.
Stayed in two different rooms, one much better than the other, but certainly no major complaints.
It is not the Taj but, would I return, YES.

Room Tip: Don't choose a room near the pool if there are many children around!

Its a well maintained hotel with clean rooms, dining & nice lawns. But there is no Rajasthani decor or architecture in this place. So you won't find a wholesome Rajasthani experience. Food service is incredibly slow.

You know all those shabby, badly-maintained hotels you stay at in towns and cities across India that you look at and think, if only someone bothered to revive and maintain it, this place would be really nice? This is the Polo Heritage: a heritage property-turned-hotel that is actually very nicely maintained.

There aren't all that many bells and whistles, although there is a very welcome swimming pool and a lovely calm green expanse of lawn. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, although this isn't the place to find swanky marble bathrooms or flatscreen TVs. My only, really rather minor, quibbles are that it seems a bit of a way out of town, and that the AC in my room was positioned directly above the bed, which I found quite dehydrating and caused me a bit of discomfort. But otherwise, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.

To start with we decided to stay at the Polo Heritage for its price. But we were taken by surprise. The property has a lush garden, a huge swimming pool, quiet atmosphere and helpful staff. A perfect place to spend some time and relax. Although the rooms aren't luxurious, but are comfortable and neat. Staying here is a complete value for money.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms by the poolside

I'm loath to write this place off completely, as it has a certain quirky charm, but it has some serious issues that need addressing if they want to attract more guests.

Well out of the centre of town, it is in a quiet residential area with its' own garden, which could be a plus if you have access to your own transport, but is otherwise a bit of a problem, as there isn't much around it by way of restaurants or entertainment.

It seems to be a cluster of two storey bungalows with very large bedrooms and enormous bathrooms - like somewhere from the last days of the Raj, living off previous glories. There weren't many other guests but the staff seeemed a little apathetic - our room wasn't made up at all and a tray of food was left outside a bedroom door all day long, without being collected.

The biggest issue we had however was the showers. One of our group received a nasty electric shock whilst in the shower and several others noted mild tingles when we touched the taps. We were a a party of 6, using 3 separate rooms and all of us commented on the issue when we had breakfast. The lady who had the worst shock, needed a nedical check up, as she was 3 months pregnant - fortunately everything was fine, but it was a very worrying issue. Needless to say the hotel moved her to another room in a different block , but it wasn't just an issue in one room.

Altogether, this could be so much nicer than it currently is, with some tlc and a bit of a revamp. At the moment it seems nobody is really that bothered - a pity ,as it could be something special with the proper effort and care put in
