My wife and I were in Jaisalmer from 12th to 17th January 2013 and stayed at Hotel Victoria. The location of the hotel (inside the fort) was of course the biggest draw at the time of deciding on the hotel. On actually arriving at the hotel, we found the view from our room and also from the terrace was breathtaking. The staff at the hotel were very warm and helpful. Especially Sushil - the manager, who took care of our every need. The owner Mr. Pankaj Purohit also took care of us and the hospitality was excellent. It was a wonderful experience.

I wanted to fly kites - and they arranged to get the kites and we had good fun together flying kites for over an hour and a half. This was really great - especially as I had not flown a kite since I was a kid. Their attention to our every need/wish, really touched us.

We intend to visit Jaisalmer again, and we shall definitely be staying at Hotel Victoria only.

How could you not love staying in a little slice of history? The original house has been in the owners family for 27 generations. That's right. 800 or so years. This makes you feel a bit closer than a Hotel and more like a welcome guest in their house. It suited us down to the ground. We stayed here as a group of 6 for 4 nights and by the time we left we felt like good friends with the owner and staff. To add to the magical ambience, Hotel Victoria does not stinge on the perks of free mineral water, breakfasts (mmm banana pancake, endless chai and coffee) Dinner on the rooftop and some cold Kingfisher's can also be arranged if you feel like it.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, go for the rooms with a view outside the fort. It'll be worth it.

I remember hotel victoria more for its untouched beauty and the extremely care-taking owner and the staff who try all their bit to make your stay comfortable. We were charged Rs. 4500 per night for the 26th and 27th december 2012. Tea, snacks, coffee were all free of cost, even mineral water bottles and tissue papers. Sitting on the terrace (you realize you are hanging on one of the boundary walls of jaisalmer fort) with coffee watching sunset is very picturesque and relaxing. Highly reccomended for a good stay and experience.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with traditional architecture of Haveils. There is another room with Jharoka. It makes...

We left our vehicle at the parking lot of the Fort and were taken in a tuk-tuk the the square from where we walked to Victoria Hotel. It is an old residence of an officer of the Maharaja converted into cozy home stay. I guess it should not be called a hotel, coz neither the accommodation nor the service could match required standards. The hot water was never available when needed and the water pressure was inadequate. The Manager Sushil does his best to make the guests as comfortable as possible within his means, but, I do not think guests get their monies worth when it comes to comfort and service. However it is within close proximity to the highlights of the Fort. The sewers of the Fort are exposed and the there is a funny smell about the place. The inmates living in the fort could do much better with their garbage disposal, coz they choose to drop it off their windows littering the area around. However, the view from the terrace is breath taking. I even believe that the narrow alley and the foyer could be kept clean by the hotel staff, rather than be happy blaming the holy cows.

Best place to stay in jaiselmer fort. Excellent roof top views we had with drinks, food and Rajasthani cultural music (organised specially for us by the manager of hotel Mr Sushil on our request within minutes). All the hotel staff was very helpful and energetic. Rooms were very neat and clean having ethnic touch. Mr sushil also organised a taxi ( very helpful driver) for our desert safari next day. On the third day when we returned to jaisalmer back he extended extra support to us by arranging a room with out any extra cost for us for few hours to get us fresh and ready for our onward journey to delhi. He also arranged delicious lunch in the hotel and packed food for us for our return journey as our train was not having pantry car.
Full marks to the owner of the hotel Mr. Pankaj for organising such a show. In short
Best value of my money i can get.

The hotel is clean, with descent rooms, wonderfully located. The service is amazing. You are paying much less for a wonderful experience inside the fort. Totally recommended. We had two double rooms in the lowest price and both were good for the amount payed and the total experience.
