“Best Rajastani getaway”

Wow, Jaisalmer what a site! Definitely worth the trip even with the distance. Garh Jaisal hotel was fabulous from the beginning. Raj was waiting for us at the airport and took us directly to the hotel to freshen up and drink some massala chai at the stunning roof terrace. They had organized a Camel Safari into the desert later that day. The safari guide, Khuba was incredible. Having lived in the desert half of his life he had all the expertise. The Camels were great and the starry sky inconceivable. We had a delicious Indian meal and then on to bed, or more accurately to the fluffy sand coved by blankets. Next morning, after breakfast, Khuba took us site seeing and on to the hotel. There Raj once again looked after our every need, recommending restaurants, booking ayurveda massages and the best part of it all: no hassle! No pestering to go to one's shop to buy the best trinkets in the world as you often find everywhere in Rajasthan, even at the upmarket hotels.... Everyone was very friendly, yet professional, couldn't ask for more. The rooms are nicely decorated with nice silks and old rajastani furniture and you can have breakfast at your private balcony or sip chai looking at the sunset.

Wonderful setting, wonderful hosts. The rooms a top notch, with individual balconies that bring you back a couple centuries. You can spend hours on the terrace, sipping awesome masala tea, or kingfisher beer (or both), simply watching every day life in Jaisalmer...The staff is attentive and fun. Nitin, Tarun and Raj will take you around, and make you feel part of the village. Spend a few nights here, might end up being the highlight of your trip...

We stayed here in November after spending a week with friends who live in Mumbai. Loved the different individual rooms and the welcome and attention from all the boys was brilliant. The roof top area has great views over the city and food was great. It was wedding season in Jaisalmer so very noisy and exciting.Deffo a well worth stay. All four of us enjoyed this hotel and if we were to go back to Jaisalmer would stay here and try a different themed room!

The views of Jaisalmer from this hotel are amazing and dining on the roof terrace in the evenings is just fabulous.

This is a very small hotel and although not particularly luxurious, is quite comfortable. We stayed in the Opium room and the bathroom (more of a wet room) is tiny but functional - You do have to get used to the smells of Jaisalmer though!!

Service is lovely and the food very good - comes from the hotel next door!

We had a wonderful 3 day stay at the Garh Jaisal due to location, the gorgeous room, roof top breakfasts and the marvellous staff who were attentive without being intrusive. I would definitely recommend you stay here. It is in right in the fort, within a really quiet bit, with local families living beside the hotel, and cows happily relaxing outside. Raj picked us up from the station (we were 2 and a half hours late) after a 19 hour train journey from Delhi, and made us feel relaxed and at home from the start.
Our room was gorgeous, with wonderful views, and a comfortable bed and bathroom. Breakfast, what ever we wanted, was all included in the price.
I would really recommend you letting Raj book the camel safari. We did not have to share our camel with others, one to a camel, unlke all the other "safaris" we saw, and we had the most fantastic desert meal sittiing on a rug in the desert with just a small fire and a singing boy to accompany us. We were brought our food from across the desert in the metal canisters and ate under the stars, just the 3 of us, our 2 indian camel drivers, and the 3 camels. Perfect!
Raj also arranged our onward overland travel to Jodhpur and that too, was efficient and comfortable.
A great place to stay: if we ever come back to Jaisalmer, it will be to here.

This little place is probably worth the trip to Jaisalmer on its own. Tucked away at the top of the Old Fort (a wonderful structure), it offers peace, tradition, uncomplicated and star service with epic views from its terrace.

Don't go if you need Oberoi style plumbing; but what they have is very good by many Indian standards. As also is the food.

Jaisalmer is more for the back-packer than fat old business people like us; but this was a great way to connect with what we could cope with easily when we were Gen X and Y, and pretty easily here and now, as the Garh Jaisal is very comfortable.

Mention must be made of the unlimitedly "can-do" attitude of the owner/manager Mukesh; he and his staff should be sent to the Imperial in Delhi to teach them how to run a client service business! They were excellent, guiding, serving, driving, chatting...

Can't compliment this hotel enough. From the moment we arrived in Jaisalmer we were treated vert well. Picked up from bus stop, although they do arrange cars to pick you up or take you anywhere else in the country. They sorted out all our travel for the next few weeks too.

The Hotel itself is in the most incredible setting and very tastefully done. It was one of our most expensive hotels we stayed at but really well worth it. (and really not too pricey for the service and for the beautiful rooms you stay in) The views from the rooms and the roof top are incredible. Top tip, ask for the pink room, stunning room.

Great staff, all so helpful but not too intrusive. Free tea and coffee (the best coffee we had in india) on tap.
