A cute hotel within the fort, with about 7 rooms. We had the Red maharani room and stayed one night. The best part was the little Juliet balcony in the room, from which you could look out over Jaisalmer. The staff were very kind and responsive. The bathroom got a bit slippery after a shower, but was above average for India. Great views from the rooftop also. I recommend having a drink up there, but the food is nothing to write home about. Wifi was patchy - and mainly available in the lobby. Mattress was a little hard, but this is not unusual for the area.

Overall, it was a great experience to stay for a night within the fort.

Room Tip: We had the Red Maharani Room, which was very good.

Our experience was not as expected, we went to the Rajastan tour with an agency and they suggested other hotel but we saw so many good reviews of the Garh Jaisal Hotel that we booked ourselves.! The hotel wasn't sure about our booking neither the number of nights we were staying although we prepaid for them. Also we paid for the purple room and they gave us the blue room. We didn't get any cleaning during our stay and the room was full of grasshoppers and mosquitos!! The bathroom was not as expected with towels from the local hospital. Lots of noise and light, impossible for sleeping. Be aware that at 5am you will be waken by the mosque's call. You will think that being a Haveli will be beautiful but just the arrival to the hotel wasn't pleasant at all. You expect so much more for a downtown Haveli. The views from the rooftop and breakfast are really nice but those are the only highlights. I'll consider it more a guesthouse/b&b than a hotel.

Don't have anything new to say that other reviewers haven't already mentioned before. We did not meet Mr Mukesh with whom we had emailed and made our bookings. But the staff were extremely cordial, helpful and ever-smiling. We stayed in the purple room which is ideal for a couple with kids - spacious with a small nook for a city view.
A tad expensive but well worth the stay.

Excellent hardworking and friendly staff made our stay worthwhile and comfortable. Rooms in this
Hotel had a very moroccan feel and each room had different themes and colours. We stayed at the pink room which had a very nice view of Jaisalmer, we were able to see sunrise and sunset from our rooms. Each room had fans and air-conditioning, rooms were also clean and comfortable. Breakfast was served on the roof top which was nice. Overall, great!

Jaisalmer was effectively our final stop, so were prepared to pay a bit more, for the view and from what we saw on the internet, the room. And yet again, it proved worthwhile. I had a bit of correspondence with Mukesh, the manager, in making the booking, and a few discussions once we were there, and he proved very helpful, knowledgable, and looked after us extremely well. We had the purple room and was indeed unique, in a good way. The view over the old town was first class, a wonderful place for sunset drinks. The restaurant upstairs also had views second only to those of the palace in terms of height, so very easy to take. Meals were bought in from Mukesh's sisters place a couple of doors down and at times we made use of this to avoid the sometimes lengthy delays between ordering and arrival at other restaurants. Food quality was good. The staff (from Nepalese village we found out through discussion) were excellent. Had read many things about camel safaris but I just left that to Mukesh, who organised a night out at the tents, 4wd out and back and camel rides sunset and sunrise. It did make life very easy and was all we needed. Yet again, I appear to be singing the praises of both the hotel, the management and its staff, but thats how we found it so credit where its due. Oh and I just saw something by another contributor about staying within the Fort and the deterioration that may cause, as outlined in Lonely Planet. Well it seems there may be more to that article in Lonely Planet than meets the eye, Mukesh confirmed that his family having lived in the Fort for generations were vigilant about the state of the Fort and its upkeep. Once speaking to him, I no longer had concerns about staying within the Fort

We visited Jaiselmer recently. This hotel is within the fort and that is definitely a plus. Easy to explore all the sights within the fort at an easy pace and without any planning. (However, after hearing about the water/ plumbing problems and conservation efforts by the fort authorities, I felt somewhat guilty about staying in a hotel within the fort !)

The view from the roof top ( breakfast area) is great. The breakfast was surprisingly good, wholesome and nutritious. Pity they don't serve dinner ( available in the adjoining hotel); the food in jaiselmer was terrible, garh- jaisal's breakfast was the only decent thing.

The hotel itself is quite small, just a few rooms. The rooms are also fairly small. Has a hippie-, ganja-smoking look about it:-). If you are traveling with young kids you may not want to stay here - balconies with low walls, at quite a height.
Service is quite good, the guys are helpful. They set us up for a camel safari which was quite good.

All in all, ok for a short stay.

This hotel is THE place to stay in Jaisalmer. The owner and the staff do everything to make you feel at home, and they succeed! We really fell in love with this place and will definitively go back in the future. The breakfast is superb! You can order whatever you like and the Nepalese staff will make it happen. And the rooftop is so great! What a view and what a place to sit back and relax during the hottest moments of the day and in the evening! The rooms are nicely decorated and all facilities are available. You also can enjoy a wonderful view from your balcony-sitting place. We also did a camel safari (no hotel hustle) and this was amazing. We did a half-day safari which was non-touristic as promised. We were only 2, each of us got a camel. We also got a tour around Jaisalmer with the guide Puri (no charge). Puri shows you around and tells lots of stories. He is a real chatterbox. Puri will also take you to a textile shop but you are not forced into buying anything. Relax and just get informed on the quality. Ask around in town for prices before buying anything though. The hotel owner Mukesh also arranged transportation for our further trip in Rajasthan with cheaper prices than other taxi companies.
The hotel together with its staff and owner gave us a truly wonderful experience. We will definitively go back! Thank you so much for everything Mukesh and staff.
