The hotel on Jaisalmer was average overall. The pool is not too big but fine enough to relax. The breakfast did not have much variety. The rooms over there was crowded since in today's modern time there should be an led or at least an lcd television in that huge cabinet. In today's digital(set top box) time still they used Local Cable. The bathroom also had a fan. Since we were with our family who could not climb steps so we had to choose ground floor rooms. I suppose the rooms that were upstairs were better. There should be both option for the tissue and the jet shower in the Bathroom. The breakfast was presented very slowly when there was no buffet.

Room Tip: do not opt for ground floor rooms

We were there in Jaisalmer for two days only, would have loved to spend more time. The Taj Gateway is where we stayed, Sept 2013.

The hotel like most buildings in Jaisalmer is made of Sandstone, this automatically makes it look both beautiful and historic at the same time. The property is just 1.5kms from the Railway station which makes it very easy to access. It is about 5 kms from the fort which is the other place in Jaisalmer you are most likely to visit often.

From the time you step in to the hotel you get a feeling of having arrived at a special place. The hotel is well laid out, there is a very nice swimming pool adjacent to the restaurant. On the other side of the pool there is a little platform kind of place where they have performers on weekends.
The Sunday we were there, they had organized for some singers and a dancer - local Rajasthani artists. the entire experience was magical. The artists were very talented and we really enjoyed that experience.

The room itself was a little small though adequate with a decent double bed and a full size wardrobe. There was a work table and tv etc. The bathroom was also of adequate size.

The staff were very courteous and were also kind enough to let us do a late checkout.

There is a little terrace area in the hotel, the same level as the rooms and one level above the pool. In the evening it was a very pleasant experience walking and sitting around in this area. The temperature comes down a bit and it is really nice.

The hotel has various little nooks where they have planted trees and kept little vases and water bowls. There also a few water bodies which attract birds making the whole place look really pretty.
There was a nice solid wood swing in the area in front of the rooms where also you can sit and lounge around.

Overall an excellent place to stay, all I would wish for is more time to have spent over there.
Fully recommended for anyone looking for a nice holiday.

We took the monsoon package in September and it was excellent. The highs- beautiful and clean pool with a wonderful view of the town, fort at a distance , sunsets, poolside meals, the hotel design is great, cosy and compact, its very pleasing to see lush greenery amidst the desert, the food in general is good, Lal Maans was excellent and service quite prompt.the lows- rooms although comfortable with comfy bed and clean linen, they require some maintenance especially in the bathrooms like shelves and door knobs. The decor could be classier.the spa didn't function for lack of staff:(
But overall the stay was superb, value for money and highly recommended. It's much better than most other Jaisalmer hotels.

We spent 4 days and three nights at the place. The property is very well maintained and designed, the staff is nice and freindly but lacks the star finesse, first night at buffet the muttoun dish was flagged as lal maans, but was a tame muttoun curry, we were told it was made less spicy due to foriegners also staying. Well we made a point which they seemed to have understood that name a dish with real name rather than excotic name. They did offer a real spicy rajasthani dish at the table which was excellent. Best thing is you can swim late evenings or literally 24 hours because the poolbis only 4 ft deep and attendant says people go out sightseeing during day so they should be given an oppurtunity to use the pool when they come back.
