Hotel Rawalkot Jaisalmer
Ranked #26 of 114 Hotels in Jaisalmer
Certificate of Excellence

I was quite surprised to read all the negative reviews below, cause I loved the accommodation and didn't think the food was that bad. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, has a great pool with a nice view and the distance to center of Jaisalmer is a couple of km away, easily doable by riksja.
We stayed in one of the tents, very comfortable tents with airco, a bathroom and tv. However next time would pick on of the normal rooms, as this form of tent does not give you the feeling of staying in an actual 'tent'. It is simply a normal room - but of lesser quality - in the shape of a tent. Don't expect any 'camping' feeling though.

Nevertheless, decent value for money!
Oh, and of course Jaisalmer is absolutely beautiful (but busy though)!

Room Tip: Pick a normal room, the tents don't add any extra value in my opinion...

This is a property belonging to the Taj Group and hence we expected a lot from it. And we were not disappointed. Its located quite close to the railway station so reaching there was easy (in any case Jaisalmer is a small city so reaching anywhere cant be different!). We got two rooms opposite each other - the rooms were comfortable with basic amenities including tea/coffee maker. The hotels pool is the best place about it - its large and has nice deck chairs around it and the depth is perfect for not so proficient swimmers like us !

The hotel also had chess, carrom board etc that will keep the children occupied.

The restaurant is not very large and serves decent meals - dont expect much out of it apart from regular stuff.

The staff were all helpful and cheery. All-in-all, definitely worth the price we paid for!

We were supposed to stay at Hotel Gahr in the fort however, on arrival we were informed that someone was in our room and could we stay at their sister hotel next door? Answer was no, thankfully for the smartphone age we booked the Gateway in seconds and headed there. Whilst not in the hustle and bustle of the city, the Gateway is great because it's so tranquil, from the lovely pool you can relax and see the fort. The room was really nice and the hotel is designed beautifully. The staff were great, Jehnaghir (apologies if I have spelt this wrong) was really helpful and arranged a wonderful camel safari for us. Food could be improved, my soup was luke warm and not particularly tasty.

We booked this hotel reluctantly as our travel agents were concerned about water shortages in the town and fort. It belongs to theTaj group but is clearly one of their entry level type hotels. Nothing wrong with that! Though the hotel rooms are fairly basic everything worked and the gardens & pool were clean and tidy and pleasant to sit in. The breakfast was extremely good - cannot comment on dinner as we ate in Jaisalmer town.
Service was probably the friendliest we encountered in our 3 week trip. They could not do enough to help. Without prompting they noticed (from his passport) that it was my husband's birthday and sent a personalized cake to our room and called to wish him many happy returns. A lovely surprise. It is very easy to get into town within 5- 10 mins by tuk tuk (cheap) and a fun ride so don't be put off to stay here for that reason.

The hotel is situated amongst four, five best options to stay when being in Jaisalmer. You can see the hotel once you enter in Jaisalmer. City is around 3 km away and the hotel is just ahead of Fort Rajwada (which is better in my view). Though interior was good, but lightning was not appropriate during night time. Food was worst part in the stay. It is boring and tasteless. View from the Swimming Pool is amazing and classic. Don't expect "Padharo Mhare Des" hospitality. It is exclusively for foreigners and not for Indians. Staff stopped us to dine near Swimming Pool as the same was exclusively reserved for foreigners. There was a nice Rajasthani Music and Dance program; which was again for foreigners who were having the dinner at the pool side (which is undoubtedly best place to dine there with its amazing view). Restaurant staff was cooperative; but food quality was not worth it. It is value for money; hotel looks charming during day time. Its extremely quiet with no disturbance.

Room Tip: "Try food outside, their food is not worth(unless they don't change their chef)
