Jai Laxmi Paying Guest House

We were really excited about living inside the fort. There are zillions of hotels, guest houses in the fort so u can bargain!! Most them have either a temple view or the city view or both! The view of the golden city from the terraces is just too memorable and not to mention the sunrise and sunset experiences.

In the middle of the fort, very close to the Jain temple is this small place with just 3-4 rooms run by a family who live in the same property. We initially stayed in the room in the first floor with a city view but on seeing the big room on the second floor we insisted on that room and shifted to it as soooon as it was vacated.

The room was Spaciousssss and had the suite feel with two chairs, a carpet and king size bed. The sitting area at the window over looking the golden city is a good time pass since this hotel is located on the wall of the fort. We enjoyed the sunrise/sunset from the terrace of the hotel. She also does massages but we dint have time for that! The only minus is probably that there is no wash basin in the bathroom.

They dont serve food but there is good restaurant near the "City View Point". The entire fort has small roads barely accessible on bike but it is a nice walk through the small alleys.

Room Tip: take the second floor room. You get a really good room for just a lil more!

the property is run by a Lady. Her name is Baiju. She lives downstairs with her family. They are very hospitable and helpful, but will not disturb your privacy. And they would never push you for a camel safari.
Baiju is cooking excellent ayurvedic food. They are not runnning a restauerant, you have to tell some time in advance. She and her son are doing the best Massages you can get in Jaisalmer.
The view from her place is very good.
A relaxed stay without hassles.

We were referred to this accommodation when the hotel we hoped to stay in turned out to be full. It is a modestly priced room-only place with a basic ensuite boasting western toilet. The generously sized bed is extremely hard, as non-westerners in this part of the world seem to prefer. There was one sheet provided and no towels. Fortunately we had our own blankets and towels so all was well. The furniture is full of character and the view from room and rooftop to die for. You need to be fit to climb all the stairs and bring a torch as there is no light if you need to leave or arrive after dark. Whatever you do, don't do as we did and try the beauty parlour on ground floor - a real shocker! Proprietor, Padam, was a great tour guide.
