“Overall it was a comfortable stay with almost all the facilities but it lacks some basic things”
Reviewed February 17, 2010

I stayed in this hotel for 2 Nights. Overall it was a comfortable stay with almost all the facilities but it lacks some basic things. Actually the price and category of hotel was not found inline with the decor and ambiance of the rooms.
The best part about the hotel is, its a fort in itself. Its real huge and very finely carved.

Likes:
- Very nice architecture. It is considered as one of the finest properties of Jaisalmer.
- Clean, clear and optimum sized swimming pool.
- A very nice SPA in the hotel
- Fine cultural activities at the hotel during the evening time.
- Staff was very courteous.

DisLikes:
- The biggest FLAW, the rooms were not CARPETED. I don't expect a Hotel of 5 star category to be without carpeted rooms.
- Food was not good. Variety was less and repeated during breakfast buffet.
- No room slippers provided.
- No bath robes provided.
- The location is very abandoned.
- Wall paints of the room was not making a happy mood.

Though the hotel is beautifully designed and has a themic decor, everything gies for a toss when yu experience the lousy and poor service at all levels of staff specially midle and senior management. We were a group of 30 persons and none of us were satisfied with the service - let alone being happy about it. Though our reservation was done well in advance, we had to wait for approx 90 minutes to get our rooms after the arrival. Our itinerary included High Tea by hotel on the first evening, To our surprise, it included Tea and pakoras only! That too were being served at a pace that half of the group left the dining room without getting a chance to taste them. Hotel staff was unapologetic and kept making one excuse or another insisting that this is regular and we were making unnecessary fuss.
a day before the checkout, my wife got sick. Last day, we were supposed to check-out from our rooms by noon though our train was at 5 PM. I requested front office that I will check-out at 1 PM so that my wife can get some rest. They very reluctantly agreed even when hotel had just about 60% occupancy. And sharp at 1 PM, I got a call in the room to vacate it!!! Highly inflexible staff, least courteous...

Fort Rajwada is a huge property and is very well maintained. The rooms’ beddings etc is very very clean
Very large swimming pool and big gardens, very good overall ambience. I think they should add some jhulas for kids to play in the garden. Kids would love that
Hotel staff is very courteous and helpful
Tarrif was reasonable, we went in off season and it was worth the money
In rooms what is missing is the carpeting . The marble floor is cold at night and there is no floor mat even to put your feets on. Since its a five star category, this is a normal expectation. The marble used in rooms and bathroom is also of average quality - they could have done a bit better.
I got dinner included in the package as think was the only mistake i made about this place. The food is not at all up to the mark. They have large buffet (expensive as well ~ 650 pp) but the overall selection and preparation is below average. Thus i would recommend to go for dinner out side at other known places in Jaiselmer if possible than to have at hotel. A lavish dinner outside would cost 2/3 the price with 3 times the better quality. We took our lunch at desert bite and the Rajasthani food was excellent there except for the very slow service. Could not get time to try other places.
Breakfast in the morning is also average other than the masala omellette.

Jaiselmer has been one of our best tours, the hotel, the people, the food outside, the city - fort, havelis , dunes , lake all were amazing. Worth visiting once for sure..

If you have too much money and no expecatations, you're at the right place. The exteriors of this hotel are very well done, and it looks real pretty at night. But thats it.

We were a small group, including a < 2 year old kid. We'd asked to be picked up from the train station. So they sent us an open jeep on a very chilly desert morning. Thank you very much.

Fort Rajwada is not a fort! It's not on a hill-top like one either.
The rooms we got were very average in size and quality. Though there's only one floor to climb, it was unique to see a "premium" hotel without a service elevator. It meant the bell-boy would drag your luggage up the stairs.

The swimming pool was well kept. Breakfast buffet was average. We wanted to order some stuff for breakfast in our room, but were told they could only send over what was on the buffet.

The hotel is a few kms away from the city, so you'll need transportation to get to the city. They seem to own very few vehichles compare to the number of rooms, and more often than not, we had to wait while they called a "tuk tuk" for us.

Check out time is 11:30 am (ha). I had to raise my voice at the front desk before a lady came forward and said we could "extend" our stay till noon.

Interestingly, the Jaisalmer fort itself has several hotels within. I'm sure you can get a better place within the gates of the "real" fort for as much, or less.

We went to jaisalmer to spend couple of days with family & to have a peaceful time...while we were not sure about the place to stay & we did get something booked through internet directly(I will choose not to name it)..however on our way from jodhpur to jaisalmer as soon as the city started with white windmills & all pink colored stones eveywhere....we saw a very beautiful structure almost emerging from the land directly(it looked like that) & thought of just checking it out. The moment we took a tour of the hotel there was no turning back. It is one of the most beautiful piece of structure almost breathtaking because of the carvings on walls...life size paintings & aristocratic furniture...& not to miss the amazing location...it was all so magnificient almost like a dream where one feels like a 'Maharaja' or 'Maharani'...even mom & dad were awestruck...we chose to spend our couple of days there...the pool is jus not huge it is beautifully made & just adjacent to it you have a SPA & gym also!! The staff is very helpful & will always have a content smile on their face (why not? they are at one of the most beautiful place amid a romantic desert)..the whole aura around the place...n the beauty of the desert makes it one of the top ten romantic gateaways of india...n in the night the whole beauty just increases in manifold leaving you with a sense of sweet melody...romance...n contentment!! i do not exactly recall the room tariff however i can say that whatever we paid, the stay was worth every dime of it...:)!!
