I felt uncomfortable during visit Salim Singh-ki Haveli. The entrance fee is quite cheap but it is poor management. The haveli itself , also the history are interesting but the official guide of this haveli tried to do hard sale of souvenir almost the time during my visit. He said the cheap entrance fee cannot cover the maintenance cost of this haveli !!!!
I recommended to increase the entrance fee in order to maintain the haveli , add guide fee in case of needed, BUT DON'T BE TOUT. Avoid this place if you don't need the bad experience in Jaisalmer !

This is just a run down, old haveli (mansion house) with very little to show for itself apart from the very top floor which is very ornate but not in good condition. They charge for a camera, and you have to be escorted around by a guard which is probably a good idea given the state of the place. This is a very poor cousin of the exquisitely beautiful Patwa-ki-haveli, both in terms of condition and the architecture, carvings etc. If you are looking to choose one haveli, just go to Patwa's and skip this one. As other people have pointed out, the top floor of this haveli is actually better viewed externally, so save yourself the hassle of going here.

This is just not worth a visit. As you climb through narrow and high stairs to the top of this Haveli, you just wonder as to why you at all came to visit this place paying an entry fee (and a separate fee for your camera). The only thing nice here is a nicely decorated top floor, which is better seen from outside - you can also see it from the fort. If you climb all the way to the terrace, you still don't see this any better (from outside it is still much better) from what you saw from outside.

Steps are high otherwise it is an architectural marvel. How the stones are joined in almost all old havelis of Jaisalmer could be seen there. The new generation architect must learn the technique
