3 Palms Jaisal Vilas
Ranked #98 of 108 Hotels in Jaisalmer
Reviewed December 3, 2010

After reading the previous reviews we were a little worried as we had already booked with them for our anniversary trip. And what turned out was a complete surprise, the hotel staff was not rude at all, they were ready to help with each and everything, being a new hotel obviously the staff was not that experienced but they were "Willing".

There is absolutely no indifference towards the Indian guests, its only that there are different restaurants for indian and Italian food, but Indian are allowed everywhere and why not!!!

As the hotel staff knew we were coming for our anniversary trip , they decorated the roon with flowers which was such a nice gesture!! The food was absolutely delacious, Jacuzzi was so very relaxing.

We also met the hotel Director Anuj Panwar and their manager personally, we gave our feedback to them. They are personally involved in making things better, and working on the feedbacks from the guests.I would specially like to mention here that Mr. Anuj Panwar is so passionately involved into this hotel and surely it would emerge as the best hotel in jaisalmer.

we had been in jaisal vilas in nov.2010.
the hotel looks excellent from outside and till you go to reception counter.
then the pathetic story of poor quality of services, unresponsiveness, arrogence starts.
there are two seperate dining halls for foreigners and indians!! indians are not allowed to go there!!
can you imagine that in todays world where so called emerging power INDIA is there,
such hotel openly does such things!
quality and selection of food items is very ordinary.
service at restarant is horrible
infrastructure of hotel and rooms (overall) is good.
hotel has recently started (3 mths back) and the inexperience is obvious in each and every aspect of hotel service.
there is significant less staff in the hotel.
in summary,
AVOID! AVOID!! AVOID!!!

this is what we experianced-

the positives- actually very few
1) good infrastructure
2) easily accessible location

the negatives-
1) management sluggish- did not even send receipt of payments we had made 3 months prior to stay- instead asked to manage only on e mail of payments being received
2) the commitments by general manager were not fulfilled ( he was on leave or may be sent on leave- not picking up phone & management reluctant to phone him)
3) arrogant staff
4) food quality - avarage or even lesser
5)service- room service- extremely poor- you may get drinking water in about 40 min after you phone up- imagine other things!
service at restaurent- nobody to attend breakfast or dinner spread( something unique!) you have to knock door of kitchen ( or enter kitchen) to ask for anything like spoon/ fork/ or any food item! you may finish breakfast in 1 hr if you are lucky!
6) very limited food options
7) most important- discrimination between indians & foreigners ( the word management uses quite often)- like- asking chindren to stay quiet as 'foreigners' may not like noise or no music in entertainment room as there are 'foreigners' in the hotel ( music system is placed in entertainment room by hotel only. but it seems that is to be used only when all guests are indians!!) worst was- separate dining halls for indians & 'foreigners' - i don't know whether this is allowed in 'independent' india- but it is done in hotel jaisal vilas!
8) no instruments in gymnasium

We stayed at Jaisal Vilas Palace, a fairly new property in November 2010 located on Jaisalmer-Barmer highway slightly away from the city. The website showed excellent facilities and rooms. However on our arrival we found that the gymnasium and the rooftop restaurant were non operational yet. The quality of the rooms and the excellent swimming pool however compensated for that as they were spacious, clean with all facilities you can look forward to from a four/five star. The cleanliness, furniture, facilities and the quietness of the rooms are excellent. The downside of the hotel is that due to lack of qualified staff, the breakfast was a mess. The hot breakfasts were cold and all items of menu were not replenished on time as well as the tables already used were not cleaned and reset in time. Also room service food was overpriced and not upto the mark. The owners were very helpful and as the hotel develops, we think it will be excellent option for Jaisalmer
