Everything is just right for the place. The location is apt, nice view. But the food is really average & when you get your cheque you are in for a shock. We had parathas, bread toast & lassi. They should improve the quality of food they serve & work on the prices.

For more than five years I have been coming to this great setting restaurant. You just gotta love the very charming owner miss Rama and the apple pie she makes. Goes well with fresh alfonso mango juice. Perfect place for breakfast or a late afternoon drink with beautiful view on the fort museum!

We walked up here mainly for the view one gets of the palace and activities in the square below. Before we could figure out what to eat, the lady who runs the place said she had made a couple of local dishes on special order and we could have that. She assured us that she made the best ker sangri, and the other stuff that gets sold in that name is no patch on what she makes. She went on at length to describe the spices she uses and how other local restaurants don't bother about adding all the essential ingredients. After such a lengthy speech, what we eventually got served was rather pathetic - it was greasy and dripping with oil; the masalas used completely killed the natural flavour of the ker sangri. I am sorry to say this was perhaps the worst version of the dish we had during our Rajasthan trip, and the most expensive! The muli paranthas that were served along with this, while tasty, seemed to have the same masala.
We also found the place pretentious - what's with all the "the owner is a permanent resident of Australia" pasted all over the place, including on the stairs!!
They really need to focus on the food and on being more genuine.

We went to 8 July cuz of the trendy name and the huge board making U believe the place has loads to offer but the place is a huge disappointment. We ordered pizza and it was a total let down with too much tomato sauce and almost uncooked base with some weird kindda toppings. The only saving grace was the coffee which was genuinely very nice. Plus with the view of the Fort around the place is okay to spend a cuppa coffee over! Overpriced yes!

A wonderful shady spot for people-watching overlooking the busy happenings of the main square when entering the Jaisalmer Fort. Everything seems to be happening here!
Being an Australian-Indian husband/wife team sets this place apart to the rest and reflects in the menu - if you are homesick for vegemite and need a break... you will get it here. Perfect and friendly service, excellent food and appropriate prices. Filter coffee and apple pie with ice cream was just what I needed that day.. :)
