“Best memories of Thar”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

We were a travelling group of 4 girls and Lois from Desert Moon Guesthouse helped us to make our first trip to Thar the most memorable.
This was 2 years ago when we were visiting Jaisalmer only for a night!
We had picked the overnight Desert Safari and were given accomodation to freshen up before and after we left the place :)
Very helpful in offering us a free pick up and drop to the Railway station as well.
Will definitely stay again the next time I visit Jaisalmer :)

I just stayed for a night in the guesthouse. Free-pickup from the trainstation and a warm welcome from the owner and his nephew. Online reservation without problems possible. Clean room, comfortable beds. A 20 minute walk from the town center.
The only downside is that the reastaurant is without a cook at the moment and therefore has just a limited selection of food.

The property is very nice. The location is not great. It is a 15 minute walk from the town, up a semi-deserted lane. The reviews below speak good words so I think my experience must just be a blip, due, I hope, to the off-season nature of my visit. The roof-top restaurant was closed. The room was fairy dirty, including the bed-spread. There were several armies of ants and other bugs all over the room.

The aircon unit was broken so I had to used folded-up train tickets to prop the vents open to ensure the room was cool.

I hope this was a one off bad experience and wouldn't want to submit an unfair review. But if you are visiting during the off-season it may be better to stay close to, or in the centre, where standards are kept up year-round.

I spent a month in India, and this was one of my favourite stays.
The guest house is very clean and comfortable.
It is not in the old town, but only a 15 minute walk away. It is very quiet at night, the roof top restaurant has a beautiful view of the fort. The food is also quite good.
The couple running the guest house are very helpful.
Excellent choice if you visit Jaisalmer, which by itself is great.

Room Tip: For 100 rupees a double room is well worth the extra charge.

It was a very good experience. We stayed two days here. The staffs were very ftiendly and helpful. The food and room tariff both very reasonable. The room and batchromm were very clean and specious. I also liked the interior decoration.
Very much recomended for family stay.

Our stay at Desert Moon was fantastic. The owner is very friendly and helpful and the staff are as well. The rooftop terrace has an amazing view of the fort. The rooms are clean with large bathrooms, ours had a TV as well. The staff also offer all sorts of information on the city, including organising a camel safari and driving us around the city to find a working ATM. The short walk to town doesn't take long so don't let that deter you from staying here, also it means that you get a peaceful sleep as you can't hear any traffic! The prices are also very reasonable. Highly recommended.

As a solo female traveller this guesthouse provided comfort, security and a warm and friendly respite from travelling during the height of tourist season (January 2012). Its location opposite Sunset Point is a visual splendour, as is sitting eating delicious simple fresh Indian or western food on its rooftop restaurant while watching the lights twinkle from the Jaisalmer Fort; picture postcards couldn't do it better! Rooms are tastefully decorated with the Rajasthan touch;spacious and clean, with great hot water! The owners,a Kiwi-Indian couple and family staff are more than friendly and helpful; providing camel rides and overnight desert stays as well as assistance with transport to or from next destination. A truly restful oasis with only a ten minute walk into the centre of this delightful desert town.

Room Tip: For a room with a view ask for with Sunset Point outlook.
