The fort itself is a few kilometeres after entering the National park borders. The entire fort has a very historic feel to it replete with minarets, temples and a whole lot of historic stories associated with it. What is best is the views of the lake and the jungle from the fort. There are several balconies from the royal ear set throughout the fort where you can relax, go back in time and soak in the amazing views. Is a must visit if visiting the Ranthambore National park.

Book thru local hotels or online before you go...amazing prices amazing experience......support the local community , as government are discussing pulling out fundings! We booked 4 jeep adventures over various days and times; saw countless wildlife, from eagles to deer. We also were fortunate to see a sloth bear and wild tigers.......it is hit and miss if you see the main attractions but the ride is amazing and worthwhile.....ps stay at ranthambore regency for a authentic colonial safari feel.......stayed for 3 nights including local foods (yum) and cost just under £200 inc hotel food safari and taxes.......and it was fantastic!

One can feel the true atmosphere of the forest on the way to the fort.

There are Hindu temple, Jain temple , Dargha, etc inside the fort. How the people in ancient times used to stay in brotherhood can be understood from the constructions.

A breath taking view of the forest can be availed from the fort.

A sure place to visit.

Whilst visiting Sawai Madophur & Ranthambore we were recommended to visit the fort if time permitted and so glad we did. It's quite a hike up (around 700 steps) but the views from the top over the national park are sensational. The fort, now in ruins still gives you a sense of it's size and original grandeur and contains several temples, the first to Ganesh located very near to the first gate, and another situated further in which still attracts worshippers in number. Also inside the walls you will find what's left of grand palaces and homes, cenotaphs and gateways. It's plainly a place for pilgrims & worshippers and home to large troops of langur monkeys too. If you appreciate historic sights, stunning vistas, peaceful surrounds and wildlife sightings you will enjoy as we did.
