“Good place but tiring”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2012

This place is situated 8 kms from Pondicherry town and the ashram is located 2kms from the main road too. So, if you don't plan for to and fro adequate transportation, that I did not do, it will really be tiring. The serenity, calmness and silence of the place appears to silence and meditation loving people. If spirituality and deep pondering is your type, this place is for you and needless to say, traveling solo will be the best for such kind to fully experience the place

“A place of peace”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2012

Pondicherry White Town is a beautiful place. You will have a different feeling when you come to this Ashram adjacent to the White Town. It is truly a place of peace. Once you are in front of the burial ground you will find the peace of mind that you might have been looking for some time.

“Serene and Peaceful”

Enough silence to listen to your inner thoughts with your eyes open. Just keep those pest mobile phones away.

“Looking for peace....find it here!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2011

When I first got to Pondicherry, I really doubted there could be an ashram here and that too one focused on meditation....the city was too noisy for that. But, the Aurobindo Ashram proved me wrong-there can be an oasis of peace in the city. This place is like a little niche of peace cut into the city. Its peaceful, beautiful and very quiet. This is primarily a place of meditation, so if that's not what you are looking for this place is not for you-that's pretty much the only thing you can do there. This place is busy almost all the time, but sunrise and sunset seem to be great times to be there...especially sunrise. Its not just the ashram, but the whole neighborhood, seems to be steeped in history. Explore the neighborhood on foot, there is really a lot to enjoy. Plus, the fact that the sea is close by is also great, you can end your trip at the beach- a picnic or a cool dip. A few words of caution: 1. This is a place of meditation, so be sure to be as quiet as possible and revel in the quiet. 2. You are required to leave your footwear out, so if you are afraid of your footwear going missing, I suggest you leave it in your own vehicle. 3. The beach in Pondicherry is not quiet all the time- it can be rough sometimes, so be careful and stay away from the water after nightfall. 4. Photography is not allowed inside the ashram so please respect that.

One dont get much time to spend in ashram but if time permits, one should go through some of the literature available at sales center....suggest to visit auroville to get the larger understanding of ashram....
