Reviewed July 8, 2017 via mobile

The visit here was really amazing and peaceful.
Located at the outskirts of the city, this temple makes you feel better and your visit more enjoyable.

Recommended for history and architect lovers.

The Chaunsath Yogini Temple is a unique temple. This is a temple dedicated to the Yogini cult and there are very few Yogini temples in India. The word Chaunsath stands for 64 in Hindi language. The outer walls of the temple has the 64 sculptures of Yogini carved of stone and hence the temple is called Chaunsath Yogini Temple. The temple is small but the sculpture work is awesome. The deities in the temple is a symbol of female energy and are forms of Shakti - all powerful female Goddess highly revered in Hinduism.

It is a small temple complex, with Goddesses arranged in a circular shrine. Carvings are very detailed and beautiful, though the faces or hands have been defaced or broken by invaders. It is clean and well maintained. I was most impressed that it was from 9th century A.D.

A tantric temple, said to be only or main such unique temple in the country. Very simple and small from the outside, but very meaningful and rich inside. A circular structure with 64 Goddesses astride on their individual animal carrier, not to forget even scorpion!! A must visit for its uniqueness
