Amazing location . rich in flora & lots of reptile watch around. A long day off means a small trek around the fort area.

Its a beautiful place to visit more so during the moonsoons. The rains make the place lush green. The view from the fort is even better. The drive up is serene and one can even trek up. Its about 45 mins trek, but not adviseable in the moonsoons as the path gets very slippery. On reaching the top one is greeted by the locals selling their products of hot cup of tea, jhunkha bhakhar with its tongue tickling chutney, baingan burta, and dahi. Its a must for all to visit this place especially to get a glimpse of the fort which was built with precision and planning by the great warrior Shivaji.

I went to Sinhagad fort during Monsoon season and the natural beauty of this place left me in Awe. As the rain was pouring down, the hills got beautiful. For a while we were not able to see the villages that are surrounding the hills, but as the weather cleared, the view was breath taking. The fort is OK, and there is nothing much to do there. But if you like enjoying beautiful natural views, then this is one of the finest places to be at.

Also, once there, don't forget to taste Kanda Bhajji and Makhhan Dahi, else you would miss something great and would have to travel there again, just to taste the awesomeness. :)

The trekking is a good 2-2.5 hrs. uphill and 1-1.5 hrs downhill. It is indeed good. There are a number of local villagers shops at intervals throughout the pathway that offer water, lemon water and some snacks. We started the trekking in the morning at 7.30 AM and reached the top by 10 AM. The weather at the top on that day of the month of September was great. Cool wind, little rain was awesome.
When I reached the top and entered the fort, I expected it to be very beautiful and with lots of structures, etc. But that is not how it is. So, friends, just enjoy the trek and complain no more.
