Balaji Resort is located 6 kms short of Velhe, overlooking a small river in Pune District. It is 60 Kms South West of Pune. From the Pune Railway Station it takes 2 hours to reach with a short halt en route. Resort is marked in Wikimapia as Balaji Resorts.
Route. Pune-Khed Shivapur-Nasrapur Phatta - Take Right Turn towards Velhe. The route has signboards so be on the lookout.
Road Condition. Pune to Nasrapur Phatta the Road is OK, Nasrapur town is a bottle neck, after that it is fair going with an occasional pothole, very scenic so keep your camera ready.
Resort. Is .5 kms off the main road to the left and connected by a narrow road. Adequate secured parking is available. Just ahead of the resort and across the bridge is another resort called Kamlini Kutir.
Rooms. Total of 15 Rooms, there are various options from twin sharing to dormitories, rooms are generally clean with functional toilets. AC may be required in summers.
Food. An in house restaurant serves meals and drinks, the tariff on food is on the higher side but the food is tasty.
Staff. The House Keeping staff and Waiters are polite and serve with a smile.
Pictures. The pictures on Trip Adviser depict all aspects very accurately. Thanks to fellow contributors, you are a great help in making travel plans.
Children play activities. Various type of equipment like swings, slides, cycle, table tennis, snooker, shallow pool etc are there to keep the young and not so young busy.
Temperature. The day is generally warm, at night after 2 AM it gets cold, so be prepared.
Overall a very decent resort, value for money. I would like to go again during monsoon.
Mr More thank you very much for the very caring attitude.

Room Tip: 6 Deluxe rooms that are twin sharing have a river view. Book early.

Its a good location and fresh view, away from city pollution. But food price very steep almost same like 5 star hotel. Good for a big group of family to enjoy the nature, specially in rainy seasons....we had gone in winter was good in morning with foggy chill winter atmosphere. Lot of games to play and have nice time. was good time. Should have less oily food ...rest all good

Disappointment is the only word to describe my experience. Photographs on the site an few reviews did helped to set some expectations before we actually reached to Balaji resort. But unfortunately Balaji Resort could not stand upto them. On every front there was sheer disappointment. Basic dishe like Kadi-khichadi which was not there in the menu card but still they did serve them with the rate which can compete with Taj’s rate. Broken toilet flush, TV was not working, no pest control done which did invite almost 40to 50 different insect species in the night which made our sleep so calm. Water jar had a leakage which made the mattress wet. No shaded parking , very average service though the staff did their best but just not worth paying what we paid. Would not recommend / advise to visit Balaji Resort

Good location, away from crowd still just an hour and half far from Pune, we thought it would be a perfect weekend destination. When we reach the place, we were greeted with a big board “Due to staff unavailability, No room service will be provided”. The staff did their best to serve but I didn’t find any supervisor or manager at the place. More over this place gets zero on the maintenance front. We found toilet flushes broken, some of the lights not working, TV and AC are in the room just for show, and they do not work. Solar water is available but only at single tap. Some room has Electric water heater, but it is too tiny to serve any purpose. And on top of everything, tariff/rates, especially for food, are highly inflated. Absolutely no value for money .........

I recently spent a weekend at the Balaji Resorts. It was a nice stay overall.

Location: It is located around 50-60 km from Pune on the way to Velhe. The resort is on the banks of a small river and gives a pleasant view if you choose river facing rooms. The road leading to the resort is not very good but not bad either. There are sign boards on the road which helps in reaching resort without any trouble.

Resort: Resort is big enough. Lot of greenery. There is a small pool. Dedicated area for kids. There are swings and slides. Then there is a big lawn and some recreational activities like TT, Carrom Board. TT is not in best of the condition but then it doesn't matter as well, as long as it is fun. Resort has enough parking space.

Rooms: Rooms are small with wooden flooring. Bathrooms were OK. no issues. Room has a small LCD with DTH connection. River facing rooms give good view.

Food: Food was OK and not very great. But, they serve freshly cooked and hot food. Give order ahead of time only and they will cook. Being veggie, we tried only veg. dishes. They were not much spicy and ok. For breakfast, they had buffet where they served Pohe-Upma-bread-jam. Breakfast is complementry but otherwise the food is costly. Although, I felt that the resort is in hardcore Pune-Maharashtra and is being run by the Marathi owners still they offered food that was typical North-Indian. They should have offered some authentic Maharashtrian food as well on their menu card.

Service: Service was good. Staff was OK. we did not require room-service so not sure about it. They lack in staff, so they anyway don't provide room service. The dust-bin was not cleaned from the previous stay. Check-in, check-out was smooth and no issues.

Places Around: The resort is remotely located. Hence not many places around. If you are going with family and kids they there are no choices but to spend time in resort only. If you are interested in trekking then there are mighty Rajgad and Torna forts nearby. We had gone to see Gunjawane Dam near Velhe. It is a nice place and road leading to it and the surroundings are beautiful. But since the dam is remotely located, there are not many people around and not much vehicular traffic as well. So check your vehicle condition prior to going there.

Overall, I feel, it's a nice place to spend time and relax. If you are going there as a sigle family, then 'relaxing' is only primary thing that you can do. If you go as a group or group of families then you can enjoy with the group and have good time.

Room Tip: River facing rooms are good.

Balaji Resort is a Gem...situated in Velhe (1 Hour/60KMs from Pune city center), this place is truly incredible.
The resort is nestled among Sahyadree hills on all four sides. Historically significant forts like Rajgad & Torna which have a place of honor for every trekker worth his salt are within 6-7 KMs either side from this resort.
An idyllic river flows right besides the resort and you are free to take a dip or dive into it in the rains. If you want the safety, you have well maintained swimming pool right in the resort with chlorinated water. You have LCD's in every room for entertainment, Pool table, TT table to kill of time in case you need them. Even the garden is landscaping is done aesthetically not spoiling the natural beauty anywhere.
The best thing about this resort is the views & services that it offers at such a competitive prices. Deluxe Room for 3 at 2500, 6 bedded cottage at 4500 and 18 bedded dorm at 9000. The views offered are 100 times better than other hotels at costly hill stations in Maharashtra.
The owner is a enthusiastic young man who has done his best to give the best of hospitality to his guests and he must be lauded for the effort.
Food is on the pricier side but that is acceptable as just to get the raw materials here is an issue. But you get everything from Tikkas to Chinese to Ice Creams to Liquors,Beers & Wine.

So all in all a fantastic resort for all seasons but monsoons its a must..

Room Tip: Cottage 1,2,3 all have pool and river views. Deluxe Rooms 1,2,3 have river views as well. Dorm does...

Enjoyed the weeked break to celebrate a birthday and an anniversay..

Excellent bits
- The view. It is sitting in the lap of mountains and greenery everywhere. To top it you have a flowing river just next to it. You can actually walk down to it and listen in the flowing water.
- The website is informative . The pictures on the site are pretty much what you see in live. The online booking was little error prone, but the call center detected the issues at backend and called back to clear out any booking issues.
- Plenty of open areas of kids to play around. The kid park equipments are well maintained.

Good Parts
- The rooms. Well maintained with fresh furnishing. We did take the AC room but did not need to turn on the AC even once.
- Kids swimming pool is nice, though the adult pool is more of a a "take a dip" pool than a swim pool
- Decent spread of breakfast buffet
- Owner Mr Dongre is a hands on manager and along with his team provided excellent service. Thanks to him for a serving us the steamy Gajar ka halva on request.
Almost Good
- The food was a bit spicy for our tastes. You can also try the next door kamalinikutir for lunch for a change
- As mentioned previously mentioned by another reviewer, it has a bar as well and a bit pricier liquor.
- The pool table can gladly take a new piece of clothing.
- There is a TT table as well, though did not use it.

Definitely Recommended for a monsoon trip!!!!

Room Tip: Book in advance..
