“Excellent view.. Amazing location”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

Imagine you go to a hill station and there is a famous 'point' to see the beauty of the town, and at the tip of this point is your resort and you get that room which looks over the valley with river, won't it be fun. Ravine Hotel is just that hotel. The view from the rooms towers over every problem you will encounter during your stay. A very decent property near Sydney point is something which you would love. In fact I checked out several other hotels/resorts in Panchgani and none came near this as far as location was concerned. Even the restaurant has a beautiful view so that you can just sit relax and eat your food. Staff of the hotel is helpful but I think they need more training to handle sophisticated travelers.

If I have to summarise our stay, these are the points:

Pros:
Very nice view from your room [you should ask for valley looking rooms]
Nicely decorated rooms
Nice amenities like tennis court, pool, snooker, swimming, spa etc.
Polite staff

Cons:
Swimming pool was very dirty all the times, they should take care of it
reception at the hotel wasn't that great, they could be more polite
Bed has to be firm and it wasn't comfortable for me for sure
Don't know but once you walk towards your room from the lift to any floor, there is some stench smell comes..couldn't find what was that but wasn't very pleasant.

But I guess, once you are in the room, you will forget everything cause the view is really breathtaking and you just want to soak in the environment. Will recommend.

Room Tip: Just ask for rooms with a view of valley.

we visited last year to panchgani and mahabaleswar from Pune. I would like to highlight that this is the hotel which has the best natural view. we have experience the Sydney point natural view from the hotel window. We have also feel the wind hitting our window .That's really enjoying experience if you dare to experience the nature.

Non-veg foods specially Tandoori is good.Staffs are okay .Only thing is you get the reservation in weekend.

We requested for Jr suite , on 2'nd floor corner and it was perfect location. I had not imagined such beautiful view from hotel in Panchgani. Rooms are large , and comfortable. Food is excellent. Staff , particularly room boys are not trained and overall discipline, behavior needs improvement. Bathroom is basic and fridge and bar not stocked. It is great property , but needs better maintenance.

Room Tip: they have tennis courts too,

Disappointed with the substandard service even though the hotel is the only decent one..exhorbitant room and food rates, no shower curtain, no fridge and no basic amenities and slow service reaponse. The area has better and cheaper options of individual restaurants in the area.
The product and services do not justify the rates charged.

Ravine is a nice property but could be better. A bit confused with this hotel's booking policy- we booked a ground floor premium room (has a mezz floor with a bed/bath) which can easily accommodate 4 adults (we were 2 adults and 2 children (10 yrs and 13yrs)...we had to pay & take one additional bed for some reason. When I inquired with front desk, they mentioned we charge for the kids anyway - well, if you are booking based on the room and not charging for individuals, neither are you providing any extra bed NOR providing any food what's the logic for charging ? Like I said, weird.

Only this room has a nice sit out, you can step out and sit in the verandha to enjoy but strangely this was also closed and not opened on request. They claimed, they have closed access from room since last 8 months but no logical answer was provided why so. They mentioned it was due to rats and insects, but they could enter from the open windows as well since it was the ground floor. Would have been a great experience if they had opened this sitout access.

The ground floor premium room is best of the lot. You get a view of the mountains from the mezz floor and tennis courts from the ground floor. The valley view rooms are also good and have a great view of the valley, would recommend either one of these rooms depending on group size. Sydney point is right next to the resort and a great place for viewing sunsets.

The pool is rather small and usable for kids, adults can just relax but cant swim. They have a play area in the basement with foos ball, table tennis, pool table, carroms...the pool table is chargeable but reasonable cost, rest free.

The restaurant has a great view to the valley. In all the three days we were there, there was just two people to take orders and serve...one of the nights it was pretty crowded and we wondered how they would manage. Weekends are usually crowded here. There's no package with food included. Food was good but quite expensive. Couple of bread slices cost 35 rupees....they charge this even with omelettes. With limited manpower, it may make sense to provide buffet services.

They have a Spa but didnt get a chance to use it. Saw the spa services menu and it looks quite comprehensive. They charge extra for the AC though the rooms when booked are with AC included. If the rooms are booked with AC included, what's the point in showing it separately in the bill? Maybe it's a good idea for those who dont use it and reduce their bill but it's not made clear when booking. Weird again.

Like I said, this resort is nice but with some more "friendliness" & "customer engagement" thrown in, could possibly become one of the best resorts in the area.

Room Tip: Ground floor premium room and valley view rooms are best.

Ravine is an overpriced property, where the concept of "Customer is King" is not bothered with
Lot of hype, arrogance, right from the time you visit their website. You cannot book online, but need to request them and they shall let you know. When you call them, the attitudeof the guy at the other end is downright rude... As if he is doing you a favor. Oh yes... they are pretty expensive too.. Advantage of hype created over time and no competition
Rooms have a great view, but that is the only thing good about them. A/C remote not present, even though you have paid extra for the A/C.When you ask, you get a rude reply that you need to pay first for the services. When I pointed out it was done, they apologized and sent the remote 20 minutes and 2 more calls later. Room service when we ordered some stuff was very prompt though and efficient
Swimming pool was not looking clean, though they did offer the facility of warm water in the early mornings for swimming. The restaurant did not have many options in terms of foods or snacks. Very limited, but what was available was of extremely good quality. You got to compliment the chef for the same. Not many activity options there
Otherwise a very unremarkable hotel, charging 6500 a night (very close to the Marriott in Mumbai), but 1/1000th of the ambience and service.
