Mount View Executive, The Valley Resort

We visited this hotel in peak summer season of May 2011. The rates in mahabaleshwar were too high and also the availability was a major problem for 4 people so somehow we choosed this hotel after viewing the rooms through internet. Yes i was also provided a very marginal discount in service tax.

The hotel is 0.5 - 1km from the main road of panchgani-mahabaleshwar road and near about 2.5 -3 km from the main market. If you have a car than you have an advantage reaching the hotel.

We reached the hotel in the afternoon and it was pretty hot. We had booked 2 rooms in advance one was pool view room and other one was valley view executive room. We were warmly greeted by the manager who promptly transferred our luggage through the attendant. Once reaching the valley view executive rooms. First impression of the rooms were
a) Rooms are big enough.
b) The view from the room was excellent
c) Big nice comfortable cosy beds.
d) Decent washrooms
e) AC was there but with a additional charge of 500 Rs per room.
f) Dining table and hall with sofas were there to watch TV. (optional and may vary according to rooms).

Hotel is having a small decent swimming pool though we didn't used it. Provision of leisure games are there like carom, ludo, table tennis and billiards table. Billiard table is at cramped place you cannot play through side ways. The stick movement is restricted while playing from side.

Restaurant provides pretty good food and having good ambiance. One can have view of the mountains sitting from the restaurant. We had to wait for more than 40 mins after ordering the food.

Room service is laid down.We had hot water not coming from bathroom so we called the room service but rather than sending any attendant he was telling us to reset the button which was at top of the heater. Also there were times when we had to remind the man at reception to send coffee which we had ordered from long time.

On the backside of hotel there is a huge sitting area with chairs and tables facing the mountains. One can enjoy sitting there in evening having tea/coffee. The view from there is excellent. You get a clear and panoramic view of mountains.

Besides this there is small playthings for children. There is a open parking space which can park nearly 8 vehicles. Rather say it as a open plot to park vehicles.Within half km from hotel there is one entertainment park (Onwheelz) which is good enough to enjoy the evening.

Somehow during our stay i didn't feel that i am staying in hotel. The hotel didn't seem to me lively. Yes rather i would call it a guest house with good facilities. May be i am saying so as there were very few people in weekdays.

I would suggest this hotel to those people who are low in profile and prefer quiet and silent surroundings. The view from the hotel is excellent. The only USP of this hotel.

Room Tip: Prefer valley view executive rooms for excellent views.

We are just back from this place. Tucked in a quaint corner in the valley, this property is cute. Not very big, but the hotel is well-built. Our own suite was one with a valley view (one of the best), so no complaints there. It actually was a duplex, with a hall, an upper deck, a bed room and included a balcony. The staff is courteous. The swimming pool , though not very big, was clean. We also stayed in for the new year bash...it was not so great however.

The only bone we have to pick is the food service. When it arrived, it was great. But, it takes an average of one hour to get anything. So if you want to eat in, be ready to wait. No alcohol is served, however you can bring your own and have it anywhere in the property.

The is no free wi-fi in the rooms. Can be availed for a payment of 150 INR for 24 hours, but only in the lobby.

All in all, 3.5/5.

Room Tip: Pick the valley facing rooms... Ours was 202 and most probably with the best view of the swimming po...

We went to Panchgani as a family of 4 (all adults) on 25th December 2011. We had made

the booking at Mount View Executive about a week earlier after talking to the staff

there on phone and negotiating the room and rates. We were told that valley-facing rooms

were not available as it was peak season.

So we opted for a non valley-facing room (also known as hill-view room) at the below

rates:
Cost per night for 2 adults- 2900
Extra cost per night for 2 adults- 350*2= 700
Total- 7200 for 2 nights

We paid half this amount via bank transfer a week before our trip. We got a confirmation

SMS from them about our booking. An email was also supposed to come but it never came.

As we were going by car from bombay we enquired about parking and were assured that

there was ample space available.

We reached the Mount View Executive at around 02.30pm on 25th Dec. Finding the place

wasn't very difficult though it is quite far away from the panchgani market. However we

had to make a call to the hotel once before they guided us to the place. Landmark- Near

Onwheelz amusement park.

The parking wasn't big but enough to accommodate around 8-10 cars. We had no problem

parking. The receptionist did not ask for any photo id or the sms that was sent to us.

He took our word when we said that we had a booking and mentioned the room number and

our name. The lobby and reception area were nicely decorated (though a bit congested).

The entire hotel was very clean and was maintained like that throughout our stay.

The room again was clean. Our room consisted of a living room, bedroom and elevated

mezzanine floor. Living room was spacious with an LCD screen TV (no ESPN STAR sports),

couch and table. Bedroom had a double bed, small TV set, cupboard with mirror and

mezzanine floor with mattresses for 2 people. The bathroom was OK with a geyser for hot

water. There was an intercom for calling for room service which we used a few times

calling for extra towels, coffee, cups, etc. Service was fairly prompt. We had supper

and breakfast once at the hotel. It wasn't great. So we had dinner outside on both

nights.

Recreational facilities provided were swimming pool, billiards table (with pool balls)

and TT table. Carrom and a giant snake & ladders board (strange) were also seen. The

swimming pool was tiny and water did not look clean. We did not enter it nor did we see

anyone else using the pool. Had fun playing TT and pool. All in all, our experience was

a pleasant one apart from a few shortcomings which are mentioned below. Again, hotel was

very clean, staff was polite and courteous, room was nice (valley view would have been

even better), service was reasonably good. There is frequent load shedding at Panchgani

and they had a DG to keep everything running. However no cable TV during load shedding.

There is also an friendly Alsatian dog that roams around the hotel, not sure whose it

is.

Pros: Very clean, helpful staff, parking available, reasonable facilities, prompt room

service, clean mattresses, sheets, vessels, etc.

Cons: Away from market, need your own vehicle to get around (used our car on both nights

to drive to panchgani market for dinner), service charge of 20% on room service used for

food(weird), swimming pool not very clean(although it wasn't filthy either), made us

wait a lot for food, coffee not available a night because dinner time was on, etc. We

did not opt for room delivery of food. Also when we had to make the final payment we

were told they would not accept a card. So had a person from the staff accompany us to

an atm where we paid in cash.

Finally, although the cons list seems longer than the pros, the hotel is good and I

would recommend it. They also charged us less inspite of it being a "peak season". Our

total cost for 2 nights 2 days for 4 adults came to INR 8800 including INR 1000 for food

and refreshments. They can improve on service a bit by being more flexible but it's good

VFM provided you have your own car.

Room Tip: Choose valley view. The view is really nice. Hill view is a bit lame but again you can go see the va...

Good news for people who clamour for valley view rooms in mahabaleshwar. Just 10 kilometers before mahabaleshwar lies the quaint little town of panchgani and tucked away behind the hustle and bustle of the main city road is this hotel. It is called Hotel Mount View Executive. The hotel is just past panchgani towards the back which makes it a non-touristy kind of hotel and loads of peace and tranquility.

Just came back from there yesterday 28th November 2011 and to my pleasant surprise the hotel is quite nice. I was quite skeptical at first, but the hotel is pretty decent. We stayed in the pool and valley facing suite with a pretty good view of the valley and the river below. the hotel being a litle off the beaten track can only be reached if you have your own means of transport. Otherwise for items such as food once you are in the hotel it would be difficult to go all the way back to the panchgani market.

The hotel staff is quite courteous and the hotel is clean with rooms also being clean which is not always the case at panchgani and mahabaleshwar hotels. The swimming pool is a little small for one's liking but with a chill in the air at this time of the year, not many will have the courage to step into the cold water of the pool. There are other small games facilities but with alot to see around you will not be able to find time for them. If you have your own car you will not mind considering this place and going over to mahabaleshwar to do your sightseeing. The food at the hotel is also quite nice with decent variety offered in the menu for both the vegetarians and the meat eaters.

Panchgani has fewer points than Mahabaleshwar but the views except that of kates point and needle hole point which falls between Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar are better than other mahabaleshwar points. Venna Lake long considered the star attraction in Mahabaleshwar is slowly seeming to lose its charm as not many people queue up for a somewhat boring boat ride now that pedal boats are not functioning. Also the lake in Mahabaleshwar is kind of far from the market in mahabaleshwar so again you will need to take a taxi or horse if you want to go back to your hotel. Word to the wise at panchgani and mahabaleshwar entry points they take some kind of entry tax. Please keep these receipts in your car as whenever you leave and reenter panchgani and mahabaleshwar you will be required to show these so that you do not repay the entry tax.

Of course there are the upper end hotels such as sherwood etc. which have excellent facilities but these facilities come at a price and this review is more for the common man who may not have always access to such properties.

The road to panchgani and mahabaleshwar is quite nice. From Mumbai the best way to go is through the Mumbai-Pune Expressway which basically connects to the NH 4 around Hinjewadi in Pune and from there on head towards Satara. After crossing Pune after about an hour will be the small village of Surur where there is an overbridge and a Mahabaleshwar turn right marker with 45 kilometers written. Turn right under the overbridge and follow that road past Surur to Wai and then to Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar. As the Pasarni ghat which is the ghat which ends at Panchgani there are a few tricky turns but mostly quite okay. Though getting down the ghat requires some focus on the road as some corners are quite tight.

There is also a road going via the Goa Highway where one needs to turn left at Poladpur and then take the route via Pratapgadh (old fort near Mahabaleshwar) entering into Mahabaleshwar. But from what most reviews state the road condition is not too good and it is more steep and winding than via the Surur-Wai-Panchgani route. However sometimes Pune is slightly communally sensitive and most demonstrators attempt to block the Mumbai-Pune Expressway which will spoil your travel plans. Luckily for us one such event happened just a day before and on that day the Mumbai-Pune Expressway experienced problems with people blocking it. However by the time we went in the road was cleared. Just check the news especially if it has to do with maharashtra before you decide to take this route. Otherwise the mumbai-pune expressway is a car driver's delight. For kilometers on end one does not need to use the clutch. Just the right combination of gears, minimal brake usage and foot on accelerator and you will simple cruise.

So there is still some time to make a trip there as it is the off season there and by mid december things will get pretty chill up there. Bon Voyage.

Room Tip: Try to check for pool and valley facing rooms at the hotel. They are the best rooms. Tightly bolt th...

Went back again recently, the place looked even more pretty this time around. The scenery is still one of the best in the entire region. The staff was also very courteous and accommodating to all our requests, and we had visited during peak season!! Food taste still remains superb! Will definitely stay here again sometime.

Room Tip: Choose the valley facing, In this case, it really makes a big difference.

for the people planning a holiday to panchgani pls dont see the photos of this hotel and book your stay, as we are back from this place a day before. The swimming pool was dirty due to rain but nor the pool table was available neither the table tennis or carrom was proper. Above all this disaster the property is very small and not as it looks in photos. Staff were good but the food was horrible . They need to think about their kitchen We have to bring the food from outside and eat. Above all we shifted within a day stay to a near by hotel although we had three nights booking. After charging for seasonal rates during non season it is not at all worth for what they are charing.
