Reviewed July 17, 2014

Amboli is a hill station lies in the Sahayadri Hills of Western India, one of the world's "Eco Hot-Spots" on source of the Hiranyakeshi river. The main attraction for tourists is the incredibly high rainfall and the numerous waterfalls and mist during the monsoons.

Driving Directions from Pune-Kolhapur: NH 4 till Sankeshwar, then Gadhinglaj-Ajara-Amboli.
Pune- Kolhapur- Kagal- Nipani-Gadhinglaj Rd(Take right turn frm Hotel Goa Ves hint:after finish small ghat section)-Gadhinglaj-Ajara-Amboli: 119km

“Not the right time yet”
Reviewed June 22, 2014 via mobile

Amboli is a beautiful drive away from Goa. Roads up to the Goa border are excellent and average beyond that. Took about 100 mins to reach from Mapusa. Since the monsoon has just started the flow of water at the waterfalls was much lesser than expected and seen in the pics. There are food stalls nearby who serve Maggi, Bhajia and some hot snacks. Ideal location for a half day visit from Goa. Ideal time to visit would be a couple of weeks from now when the monsoon is at its peak and the waterfall would be in its full might.

“Perfect monsoon destination”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

Perched at a height of 690m on the Sahyadri hills, Amboli is a beautiful little hill station about 30 kms from Sawantwadi and 120 kms from Kolhapur. We usually drive down to Goa and take the route from Pune-Kolhapur-Sankeshwar-Gandhiglaj-Ajra-Amboli-Sawantwadi-Baga. Amboli is perfectly placed for a pit stop for food or a night halt. As you reach, Amboli welcomes you with vibrant views of lush hills with green paddy fields. There are many viewpoints providing breathtaking views. Amboli's cool climate makes it a welcome respite from the summer heat and a perfect 1 night getaway. But its the monsoon when the Sahyadri magic comes alive. You can experience a walk in the clouds, dance away in the rain, enjoy in the majestic waterfall or just spend an enchanted afternoon with numerous hot cuppa's. There are a few small shops and tea stalls that sell steaming poha, uppit, thali, tea etc. Try the Malwani cuisine and Solkadi available in the hotels around this region like Green Valley Resort or Lad's. There is a Kamat's restaurant also serving South Indian & regular fare. Mumbai is 550 kms and Pune 390 kms from Amboli.

“God of hills. Amboli. ”
Reviewed January 10, 2014 via mobile

Went to Goa from Pune. Amboli was on the way. Came back from the trip. Enjoyed a magnificent waterfall near amboli. Now people haunt us to stay amboli during rainy season and be in the clouds.
There is a chap whom I know who goes to amboli during rainy seasons every year. For a day or two.

So God willing, i intend to go to amboli again.

“Calm, Cool and Peaceful”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

Amboli is a typical maharashtrian hill station. Calm, cool and peaceful it is...atleast thats the point you would realize once you reach there. Stay options are limited and there is also not much to do or visit. A night stay if sight seeing or a couple of nights for serenity is the most that can be recommended. Did not stay there myself, only visited.

We checked out a place for lunch called 'Swayambhu' which was suggested by a local while sight seeing. Amazing food and nice owner. They offer homestay rooms which were quite decent. Service cannot be commented on as did not experience it.

Nice place overall.
