“Great Cafe Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2012

Last morning we were in Ruidoso we stopped in for a good cafe breakfast. Pancakes, bacon, coffee, etc. It was all good! Not to mention the breakfast burrito! Good place and not real crowded.

“Cozy little cafe with good home cooked meals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2011

Took the family to this little cafe right off the highway. Read the reviews online, and we agree with the positive ones. The pancakes were good, but the breakfast burrito was awesome. Green chile is everywhere here in this area, and we have tried it at numerous places in Ruidoso. However, the green chile sauce at Alto Cafe (on the burrito) was far and away the best we have ever encountered.

The environment is cozy and quaint with a western flair. Our server, who was very attentive and personable, turned out to be the owner. We had a nice chat with her. Food is very good, prices are very reasonable...not much more you can ask for in a little cafe!

Cafe Alto was the best dining experience we had during our vacation.

“Good Food, Low Key”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2011

We eat regularly at the Alto Cafe when we are in Ruidoso. The atmosphere is pleasant and family-friendly and the service always comes with a smile. They have excellent breakfast specials, and very tasty lunch meals (especially the barbeque plates) but alas they close after lunch time. Prices very reasonable.

“I can't believe the previous review...this is a great little cafe!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2011

The location is on a hilltop right off SR 48 north of Alto. The restaurant is small, open style, serves ~30 people. My wife and I have eaten breakfast and lunch here several times over the years and will always come back.
The food is delicious and well prepared (the BBQ is exellent), portions are generous, the waitresses are friendly, always busy and very efficient. No 3 or 4 trips back and forth to your table to get your order, these folks are good.
Prices are reasonable for the area.
A lot of the locals eat here and I'll bet they don't think to write reviews. They would tell it like it is.
I wish the motels in the area were run as efficiently as this restaurant.

“Bad food and bad service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2011

The food was burned and when brought to the waitress' attention she yelled back loudly. When we spoke to the manager she said that was her best waitress. She also refused to acknowledge the burned food. Not worth the time and costly for what you get.
