We were a group of friends around 25 of us on quick weekend trip to Varkala . Choosing a resort in Varkala is quite a task as tr r plenty of options . We narrowed down to akhil beach resorts . The experience right from the beginning of co ordinations thru mail n getting d bookin done n online payments all went smooth . The resort is brilliant , if u r lookin for a a total Varkala experience then this is the place . The cottages are superb . The swimming pool is excellent and maintained really well . Food at the restaurant is very decent . Overall had a great time n amazing memories .

Varakal itself is a hideout from the tsunami and this location is an oasis out there that makes you feel as if you are in a wild life sanctuary, away from the civilization..But, just a couple of minutes on foot, and you are at the end of the cliff and all the activity is there with a wide selection of culinary at your choice..For those who care on what you pay and what you get, there isn't a better place around..

There are a lot of good things about this hotel. The grounds are lovely, and kept immaculate - by far the best kept hotel we have stayed at in India. We found the food in the restaurant excellent, although the restaurant manager was not very helpful - on one occasion, we were served milk coffee, the milk was off, but he was not interested - saying it was fine. To be honest I couldn't be bothered to argue with him, he'll tell you black is white if it suits him. The waiting staff at the restaurant were great, friendly and up for a bit of banter or a chat.

We had a deluxe room - which was adequate. On the downside it is very small, and there was mould on the walls and in the bathroom. The ceiling fan sounded like a jet on take off (we don’t use air-con) On the plus - It was the first hotel I’ve stayed in India where hot water was always available, and the satellite TV worked. It was cleaned every day by the friendly cleaning staff.

The lovely pool was spoilt by the hotel letting non hotel guests use the pool for a charge. For 4 days we could not use the pool as it was overtaken by children and families - at one time I counted 20 non guest children in the pool, and the hotel had the feel of a kindergarten rather than a hotel. In all honesty, this aspect ruined our holiday, and for this reason I would not consider returning to this hotel. I think a quick profit from these day trippers was more important to the hotel than looking after guests who had already committed to a staying at the hotel.

Moat of the reception staff were helpful, but one receptionist was always trying to get extra money from me – saying I owed for the taxi from the airport (I had paid on arrival), to pay for their bank charges, and to charge for a train trip they had organised for me on a day when there was a strike, and no trains.

Overall, the hotel is OK, but I will not be returning and would not recommend it, my advice would be to try the Jasmin Palace in Kovalem.

I stayed in the Preeth about 10 days in February and really enjoyed it. Perfect garden and swimming pool, adequate rooms for the price, great service from reception staff, a bit slow service from kitchen, nice complementary consultation in the Ayurveda center. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the Preeth and would definitely return.
Of course - as stated in other reviews - sometimes children are playing in the pool. Though in 10 days it happened only one time in the very late afternoon, that I left the pool because of the noise level. I am very, very sensitive in this regard... Otherwise, I could relax hours and hours at the pool without being disturbed at all. Be aware that the nice, relaxing garden of the hotel, results that you don't want to leave the area at all ;-)
The rooms of the hotel are really good value for the price and are kept very clean. The service at the hotel was outstanding, particularly of management and reception.
One very small room for improvement: towels at the swimming pool should be more readily available. I think it is not necessary to wait 10 minutes in the morning to receive a towel and in my opinion this is something which can be fixed without much effort.
Many thanks for the great stay!

The location is fab - 5 mins walk to the seafront, and the pool is very nice, but the service we had was terrible. We tried to get in touch via 3 emails to confirm details (that we would arrive at 5am) and to book a cab from the airport. We had to make a phone call to get a response. We had a 24 hour delay and although we called to tell them, we were still charged two taxi fares, plus they said we were a 'no show' even though they knew our arrival was 5am. Somehow they 'found' a basic room for us and quickly 'cleaned' it. The garden cottage we moved into the next day was really comfortable - no qualms with the room, except they didn't clean it for the 3 days we were there. Service in the bar is slow and i'd recommend going to the cliff-top instead. Better value found elsewhere for sure.

Room Tip: The Garden cottages are lovely, i would not recommend a basic room.

Dear Ma'am,

Firstly our sincere apologies for the bad incidents happened.
As per your request we send the taxi for the pick up and we were not informed that there is 24hrs delay.
Even if you have informed, You could have reminded the reception staff when they have charged you 2 taxi fares.
Normally room service is done on request, we are terribly sorry for not giving the service for 3 days.

Thanks for your feedback, We will surely rectify our mistakes and we assure you better service next time.

Best Wishes,

Shaji S

I stayed for a week here on a Shining minds course - which in itself was fabulous. The grounds and pool of the hotel are the best that you can find on Varkala beach. The food is excellent IF you can get served. We waited consistently for over an hour for food and also just drinks. Also to get the room serviced, requires the key to be left at the room which is really inconvenient. Other than that the standard rooms are lovely and its probably not worth paying any more if you are couple but they would be a bit cosy for two to share as a twin. Oh and the wifi is really intermittant. I give the four stars because the location and grounds are beautiful.

We moved here from another place in Varkala and we were not disappointed. The staff were helpful and our room was clean, we had hot water, aircon and even when the electricity went off the generator kicked in very quickly. The hotel also put a sign out advising everyone of a festival at the local temple one night which we would not have known about otherwise. We ate at the restaurant a couple of times and were not disappointed. Email connection on our laptops was slow but then it was slow in all the places we stayed in India. Would certainly go back to this resort.

Room Tip: Check out the other part of this resort over the road. We took a room there and it was not so busy...
