It's set up like a lot of touristy beach-side hippy hangouts, but there aren't a lot of people there. At least not in late November, early December. It's still pretty local, with the addition of people who have emigrated to the area from other parts of India and Tibet, (probably other places, too.) Quiet and peaceful like other parts of Kerala that I've seen, but here it's okay to wear bikinis, etc., so you get the best of both worlds. If you like birds, bring a birding book & binoculars with you - lots of feathered friends to see.
