i stayed in room 4 with a private beautiful gardened terrace with several lounging chairs and a comfortable table and chair where breakfast was served. In the guide book i used it said expansive view of sea however you couldnt see the sea when you were sitting down which i found disappointing.
The owner and staff service and care of the guests was excellent. I was an older woman travelling alone and it was a great place to stay.
The touch of flowers on the table each morning was a joy.

Thank you for posting a review on our behalf. It provides me the opportunity to explain that Villa Jacaranda is not exactly a "sea view" place. You are able to see the sea from each veranda (even the Garden Room's raised veranda on the ground floor) but these are never substantial uninterrupted sea views that one enjoys perched atop the cliff. Given that the red laterite (a soft porous stone) cliff is eroding slowly but constantly, we chose instead to select a location just far away enough for this not to be a concern in the near future. We chose to make up for this loss of proximity to the sea by concentrating on creating a well-designed, efficiently-run place with a luxurious garden where our guests would want to return to their "home away from home" after a day of beach, sunshine, massages, walks and the many other simple attractions of Varkala. I am happy to know you found the rest to your satisfaction.

We had no booking but there was the ground floor room available. Tastefully furnished, good sized room with a verandah onto the garden. The delicious breakfast was beautifully served by Pramod, the manager who is the perfect host. He also recommended an excellent restaurant on the beach for dinner.
There are mosquitos here but Pramod will put up a net over your bed and supply coils.
There is also a road outside which is noisy during the day but did not disturb us at night.

Room Tip: The first floor rooms have large balconies and more privacy.

beautiful location, beautiful house with all lovely guest rooms but what makes it best is its commendable service which is better than any resort infinite starer.... the photos posted are not a myth here. The breakfast is served with the exact heart n soul as shown in pictures. They even provide you with all necessary information about varkala mentioning shopping niches and kerala massage centres. The host and the staff make the stay comfortable n pleasant making us want to visit again.
P.S. the place is worth an experience.

Room Tip: we stayed in room-2 with a lovely private balcony overlooking the sea, but all the others are also p...

Stayed 3 nights and wished we were staying longer. This 4 bed guest house situated in a peaceful location within a short walk of the beach and a slightly longer walk to the town, is superb and the best accommodation we have had in India. Our room was on the ground floor with its own shaded terrace and surrounded by garden. The owner Ajay and his staff pay huge attention to detail, so we enjoyed lovely table, bed linen and towels and beautiful fresh flowers both in and outside our room. Breakfast was served on our terrace and was both beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were outstanding.

Stayed here for two nights with my daughter whilst touring Kerala, it was lovely! The room was spotlessly clean though simple, we loved all the personal touches, fresh flowers in the room and bathroom. Breakfast was a delight served on the verandah, just beautifully presented and laid out, better than many five star hotels. We just wished we could have spent another night here, would definitely return!

Echo all the rave reviews as this was a gem, on South Cliff away from the trinketry and tourist bars yet near the beach (and a very interesting temple) Ajay's retreat is a delightful place to recover from hectic journeys round Indian with cool (fans only) rooms and a balcony each where delicious food is impeccably served at breakfast and other meals if desired. We stayed in room 3 on the first floor which was perfect with its balcony view over the garden pool and flowers. Touches like the fresh daily flowers; cooked to order meals and helpful staff made this a highpoint in our visit. One could walk to the beach easily and it's not far from the more crowded part if one wishes.

Room Tip: Roof room is ideally the best but more expensive and we found room 3 perfect!

The hotel is absolutely fantastic! The rooms are super clean, simple, beautifully decorated and quiet. As villa jacaranda is located away from the main tourist part of Varkala, you can avoid all the hippies and have a relaxing holiday. It is about a five minute walk from the beach, so you can pop back at lunch for an incredible meal!

AJ, the guy who owns it, is a great source of local information and can tell you where the best restaurants are. We left some glasses behind, and he posted them to another hotel for us to pick up. Thanks!
