Spent my first week ever in India at Casa Eva Luna and l was really lucky enough to stay here! Katrina and Esther were so lovely, helpful and welcoming that l felt genuinely emotional when it was time to leave. Esther's food (and coffee) was really good; the setting meant we woke up to the sounds of chickens, goats and cows from the neighbouring properties. When we just wanted to kick back and relax our 2nd floor room gave access to the top balcony from which you watch the world sleepily pass by. Katrina was able to help us with our ongoing travel plans and give us some good advice on travel in Southern India. Will most definitely return if ever l pass through that part of the world again, Thank you both for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: 2nd floor has a great balcony!

Katrina and Esther made me feel right at home at a point when I had pretty much given up on enjoying India. The house is set a short walk away from Varkala's main tourist area around the cliffs in a quiet area of the town. It's spotless, spacious and you can feel the whole place was lovingly decorated and run with a lot of love, too. While it's not a traditional homestay, they made me feel very welcome without ever being intrusive. Esther's homecooking was a much welcome change from traditional Indian food! I took a Tibetan cooking class with Tashi, who helps them around the house, as well. Thanks for the lovely time ladies!

It was our first (and not the last) trip to India. We were a bit confused, but the very first minute we arrived to Casa Eva Luna we knew that we are going to have a wonderful time. The room, the service, the food was excellent! The location is perfect too, not far from the beach but quiet enough to chill and relax. We booked for tree nights, but we ended up staying more. The hosts are very kind and friendly and they helped us a lot. We would recommend this lovely place to everyone! A couple from Hungary.

Friendly service, comfortable rooms and best bathroom I've had in India - all for a reasonable price. Sorry if that sounds like an ad, but this place was great.

The only thing I would fault it for (though this ads to it's charm) is it's location. Next to impossible to find without prior knowledge (opt for their rickshaw pick-up or carry their phone number) and about 15mins walk from the beach.

Tip: If you're on a budget, avoid the restaurants on the beach. Next to the temple is a local eatery where meals are 75rs (still elevated for India, but the best here I could find).

Me and my wife spent 3 days last week at this homestay and the experience was superb. Specially the hospitality offered by Katrina (she runs this place) and the food cooked by Ister (you can't miss the veg pizza and coffee) made our first trip to Varkala truly memorable.
Would highly recommend this place if you don't fancy living right on the cliff. It's a 10 min walk from the north cliff. And Katrina helps you with everything from booking autos to providing beach towels and mini torches.
Not ideal for someone who would want a phone, tv and AC in his room during the stay.

We rented the Casa Eva Sol house for over two months and it quickly felt like home. Esther and Katrina are truly lovely people and wonderful hosts and soon became good friends.
They also offer Ayurvedic treatments with friendly local doctors who speak good English and expert masseurs. When my partner was unwell Esther and Katrina made sure everything we needed was to hand and the doctor on call when we needed him. The Ayurvedic treatment was fantastic and really helped her with recovery. The staff were understanding & caring and made her feel very safe & at ease, as being ill in a foreign country is not much fun. She would highly reccomend using them if your looking treatment and you are guaranteed a better experience here than from the various operations on the cliff top. A huge thank you to Katrina & Esther, we had a wonderful time thank you so much.

Me and my mum stayed at Casa Eva Luna for a week. It was our first time in India, and Casa Eva Luna was a perfect place to stay at. Its a lovely and relaxing Guesthouse, with very friendly staff. Katrina and Ester, who is the owner of the place, new a lot about Varkala and India, and helped us a lot with getting the most out of our stay in India. The Guesthouse have everything you need for having a wonderful stay in India, restaurant with wonderful food, massage room and a lot of opportunities to do different kind of activities and treatments. The rooms where also very lovely, clean and nice, and the balconies where perfect for sitting outside at night, reading a book and drinking a lovely cup of chai tea. We loved the place, and will absolutely recommend it to everyone who wants a wonderful and relaxing stay in Varkala!
