“An exclusive trek”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

The Forest Department's arrangements. The natural springs. The devotion of the devout. For me it was an adventure, going uphill and going up rocks, with a recently operated knee. Salutations to Sage Agastya!

“Nature at its best”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

During non-season, a trek to the Agastya mala reveals nature at its best. The pilgrimage season starts by Jan mid for 3 months. Thus during Dec it is a package tour for trek from forest office.(Rs4k for 5 people). A guide will also be provided. 14.5(normal) + 6 km (rigourous) trek. No words to explain the flaura and fauna.
You could see the different terrains of forest ranging from grass lands to rain forest to small forest and single rocks. The water flow paths has become elephant paths which we follow through out. On the way we could see foot marks of elephants, bulls, and even bear.
Luckily we have not seen any animal. ELse we were not even in a position even to run. "Mutt thatti theri" is so sever that the 2 km stretch your knee will hit your face.
The climate is also so varying across the terrain. The second stretch from the base camp is more rigorous and more thrilling.
For nature lovers, it is the best. with so many water falls on the way and with so much different terrain as well as color .season which starts from jan mid for 2 months. pass has to be collected from the forest office. 100 people per day will be allowed. though the base camp cant accommodate so much. It will be better to go for the non season (as a package tour for 5). During season, though every 2 km there will some camps for rest as well as the weather will be more mild with no rain- hence less risky. All together it is such a nice experience one should surely have. No females ares allowed here...
