“Could be better !!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

Trivandrum Zoo, is with in the heart of the city and could be easily accessed. Entry fee was very minimum, I think it was 15 per adult and special ticket needed for our still camera.

I have been to this place nearly 15 years before, when I was a school student. Now things have changed a lot. The cages of birds, which was in the entry gates at that time have been shifted to the exit point now.

As we entered the zoo, we could see refreshingly natural habitat, including well preserved trees and surroundings for monkeys. We were happy to see that in fact. But other animals and birds were not in that luxury to say. Cages provided for all kinds birds, including vultures even not up to the mark. It was really small in size and these birds hardly get space for a short fly even. Alligators had nothing specially provided.

Tigers, leopards, lions all kept in small cages. In case of dears and hippos, the herd numbers were high in the space provided. Bears got enough free space and special caves.

But all the above, Trivandrum zoo has large varieties of animals and birds, which will really let you and your kids happy for sure.

“Trivandrum Zoo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

A beautiful and vast place right at the heart of Trivandrum, the Trivandrum Zoo is the best place be to be in, in the early morning for a brisk walk around the trees, in the day time to visit with your dear and near ones, especially the kids and the evening to sit and relax on the expansive lawn. The whole ground, extending to acres and acres, is full of trees older than most of us and with names displayed on most of them.

The beautiful Museum building gives a fitting back drop to the Zoo garden. The Zoo houses various types of animals and birds, although their numbers have dwindled over the years. The variety of Monkeys and parakeets have visibly come down .Yet a round around the cages and open enclosures gets you close to the animals of the wild and the animals from other lands.

If you are lucky, one can see the lions or the tigers or the leapords in the open cages. The Hippos do come out of the pond often to give you a good look. But the recently delivered calf and its mother try to hide from onlookers.

The Rhino has indeed got old. But he does rush to you near the wall to grab the grass you feed him.

The whole garden is full of greenery and one can certainly feel relaxed here.
