Had seen about this restaurant from Trip Advisor. Visited yesterday. The best restaurant in Trivandrum, to have a candle light dinner with your mate, to enjoy nice soothing live music and to taste the best food. The ambience is excellent.

Starters range from Rs 250 to 400 and Main course from Rs 400 to 700.

Indian, South Indian, Italian, Mexican, Iranian and English dishes were in the menu. We had Stuffed Chicken Parcel as appetizer that was really tasty. And had Chicken Lasagne and Prawns Ularthiyathu as main course. Really liked the taste.

If you like to hang out with your girlfriend and like to have a candle light dinner, I would really recommend Villa Maya as the first option.

We had seen the ad for this place and finally decided to go for dinner with our 8 years old son. On the way we called them to reserve a table. Our call got disconnected in between the conversation, but they were very fast to call us back. First impression was great. Nice ambiance. The wine rack with wine bottles (empty) looked out of place, since they do not sell any wine or alcohol.

The menu content was below average. You will get the Kerala, or for that matter Indian, items even in road side food stalls. International or so called Continental dishes were straight out of 60's and 70's.

Positive aspect is that they served us amuse bouche, but the negative part was that chef did not put his heart in making the same. Hommous piped on papdi ??? with some kind of flavored pineapple water, which they call pineapple panna??

Bread was nice but made terrible and chewy by heating up in the microwave. we ordered some kind of chicken soup flavored with cinnamon. The cinnamon flavor was so over powering, we could not even finish half. Beef steaks were very rubbery, because of the way it was handled by the chefs. They served bread cold with garlic butter applied on the side. Upon our request, they toasted the same a little. Sauce they served with the steak was loaded with roux (flour + Butter).

Service team tried to do their level best to make it a nice experience.

Had mutton biriyani(fantastic though the quantity is less than an average portion),irachi mappas(precooked mutton mixed with separate gravy at the last moment) with Kerala paratha(12 cm, dry and made at least few hours ago, not even warmed before serving) costing 25 Rs per piece, wattalappam(yummy, but priced beyond imaginations) and sacher cake(delicious medium sized cake costing almost 300 Rs).At The End Realised it was equivalent to 2 buffet dinners at Taj Vivanta we had yesterday! Plus we lost almost 10 litres of petrol to the wallet parking staff of theirs.Beware!

Had a dinner party with my friends at this hotel. It's an old property renovated with highest amenities and interiors are excellent. Mostly offering continental dishes. Ambiance is awesome with pleasant live music. Service is very fast. They provide valet parking , even though they park our vehicles in some other location.

When one visits a stand alone cafe / restaurant it is obvious to be sceptical on how you will be treated.....and the entrance of this masterpiece is can be illusive, However once your are welcomed by there super courteous staff you immediately feel special.

I went to this restaurant without any expectation but was surely impressed by the layout and design, it is a old bungalow smartly converted to a restaurant.

The first thing I noticed was the smart and neat uniform and the smiling faces which makes you feel welcome (the essence of hospitality).

You get a small glass of lime juice and a couple of tit bits as a welcome compliments, which I thoroughly enjoyed and actual finished my friends also.

We were three of us gone for lunch and we ordered 1 sea food soup,1 mutton biryani, 1 veg stew with appam, and 1 sea food Owen fried pizza.

The soup was super hot (as we asked for it), the biryani was exquisite full of cashew nuts, my colleague who is a vegetarian was not sure and wanted to skip his meal as he thought the menu was more on the non vegetarian side, but he sure enjoyed what he ordered.

Full marks to the tasty food.

Couple of areas of improvement though the squids on the sea food pizza was pretty much dry, and they do not offer finger bowls (necessary after a Indian meal, I prefer to have my pizza with hand and not fork and knife) and no after mint (since I had sea food, did not want to have a smelly mouth).
