this hotel is like a fairy tale land... if only it had a waterfall... m sure they might happen during the rainy season.... we went there in December... it was cold n so sweet.. they have these lil lamp post yellow lights all around the place which makes it so cozy feel.. our room was the honeymoon cottage.. it was a circular room with a pvt terrace to it. the room was simple n comfortable with a coffee maker. bathroom had nice hot shower however, due to the location of our room, a few harmless but irritating snails did crawl in.. the room actually could have been a bit bigger but it worked fine for us..the entire resort glows in the night with lil mist all over the place n cool breeze around... they have these different clusters of plantation and the rooms are divided accordingly.... the guy at the reception dropped us to our room and helped us plan our stay in thekeddy for 2 nights, 3 days. as per plan, he took us for a plantation tour which by the way is not free outside the resort so u better take it! its just a general overview n a mktg tour/trekking for about an hour or so... they then had a local dance program for all the guests staying at the resort... food was excellent. we have great memories of the place and have already recommended to my cousins & friends.

I went to this hotel when i went for my kerala trip with friends. This hotel is away from main thekaddy city. But its located in a calm and peaceful location. There are many outdoor games also here. This rooms were not air conditioned as they had traditional south indian ambience right from entrance and even the rooms big and airy with typical south indian touch. One who wants to experience something like that can stay here.

Thanks Carmelia Haven for 2 excellent days in our honeymoon. We were looking for a customised Kerala honeymoon package and Carmelia was a place weher we had a lot of fun. Our tour was arranged by Iris Holidays - famous tour operator and they had offered some good options in Munnar and Thekkady. We had stayed in Camp Noel in Munnar and chose it because of the trip advisor reviews. We were not sure whether we should go with Carmelia after reading Trip advisor reviews. But Iris holidays was very helpful and they told us the good and bad things about Carmelia and they developed an amazing package which is listed as Dream Kerala Package in their website (It is really good) which included things like

1) Ayurvedic Massage for both of us in Carmelia - Just Amazing and it was an authentic Kerala Massage
2)Elephant Safari for both of us :)
3)Fishing in a Private Lake
4)Kathakali Show
5)Visit to Kailasam to see the cardamom plantations and spice plantations
6)Visit to Ramakkalmedu to see the tallest statue in Thekkady
7) There were 7 more items that we did in 2 days which I am too lazy to describe (Look into the Dream Kerala Package in ris Holidays website)

There is nothing much to do in Thekkady other than boating and what carmelia Haven and Iris Holidays did for us to make sure that we have lot of fun and has some authentic experiences in Carmelia which will make our honeymoon truly memorable and amazing.

We were also touched by the fact that they gave us a parting gift. The Treehouse in which we stayed was excellent and well maintained. Carmelia was really good and we had an amazing experience there - Real good experience and was value for money.

Hi, i have stayed in hotel for 2 nights and opted one night for tree house and one for deluxe room, i must say if you are planning to stay in carmelia you must choose one night in tree house, tree house is a life time experience and i really enjoyed the stay there.

Staff is very good and always a smile on their face. Carmelia is spread around in 25acres which make itself a great place to stay, resort has lots of thing to do and we had spent a quality time there.

i must opt again for carmelia incase i am in thekkady again.

It is a very good place to stay in. the souroundings are well established and well managed. The food served in the restaurent is delecious. we enjoyed stating there. Only problem with this hotel is you wont get the kind of room you booked. I booked this hotel through travelguru.com, i saw the room picture in travelguru.com but the room i got was entirely different from what i saw while booking. Please be cautious before booking a room.

The resort is in a 53 acre tea, coffee and pepper plantation, and the feeling of staying in such an ambience is awesome. The air was fresh and crispy all through the day. The front desk is neat and traditional in appearance and the frontal view of the resort is extremely pleasant. The cottages and rooms are well appointed and the resort is eco-friendly and clean. The best experience was the morning walkers' pathway where you could go around the resort on foot. The nature is abundant, and the path takes you through the coffee and pepper plantation and around the tree house atop a huge tree.

The food was not so good experience at the resort. The menus were lacking in innovation and there were no stand out eats during the entire stay. The attitude and service of the staff was indifferent and appaling. The staff had no concern towards the guests though we were there during the premium week of Christmas and had paid exorbitant price for being there.

Booked this hotel as part of a package deal with Travelguru. Our car reached around 2 PM alongwith a bus full of foreign tourists. One porter whisked us away while a lady with a "thali-tika-lamp-etc", manager, several others ran to greet the bus. Anyways, since we had two children, they had pre-decided we'd love the "Cave Room" (GROWL). It was fantastic idea going through the tunnels and landing in a spacious and comfortable room underground. The commodities used were envioronment friendly. My two year old liked the trash bin so much, he decided to spend some time inside. Anyways, the resort is truly fantastic, one of a kind. In the evening they took us to a round of the plantations for 2 hours followed by a cultural song and dance show. We were so busy inside that we couldn't find time to visit Periyar and the NilGai. It's a resort to truly relax for a few days. The shop had decently priced spices and the food was truly awesome. All in all, just book it, if you are going that way. Staying at anywhere else doesn't make sense.
