I spent 2 days at Carmelia Haven during my honeymoon and and left the place dragging our feet. The hotel encompasses 55 acres of property and is a good place even if to just hang around in the evenings.
Has a nice store - reasonably priced items that you can purchase as souvenirs.
I think the high point of Carmelia Haven which took my heart away was the the courtesy of the staff. The hospitality is out of the world. They arranged a candle light dinner for me which i can never forget.
The resort has an ayurvedic massage centre which was a good change from spas and jacuzzis.
The place also had a watch tower which lends a beautiful view of the resort.
Food was very very tasty and the waiters very eager to help.
Pleasure to write this review :).

This place is any thing but Heaven, it should have been named Carmelia Hell! It is highly over priced for the junk bedding and facilities they provide. The food is awful and first morning after our horrible night in a smelly room we wittnessed unprofessinal treatment of one very furious couple who had asked for room service and resturant had sent their food along with some disgustingly dirty and muggly piece as their tray cover. The lady was asking the resturant personal if that is normal and they were looking at her with any sense of understanding. Finally she got so angry when she didn't get any reply so she turned to us shouting if we thought that was dirty! This whole incident scared the hell out of our 4 and 6 years old children and my little daughter was asking me why this lady is shouting on her mum and dad... . We showed our understanding and sympathy to her and she calmed down. But my question to the greedy owner of this place is, why do you treat your guests that have paid 120 $ a night like sheeps!!! People coming to holiday expect courtesy and value for the money they have paid. For this junky place we paid 120$ a night and it is the same rate that we paid for Radison SAS hotel in Orland in USA. I am sure the rate paid to the workers in this hotel is far below the rates in USA which would probably leave the hands of this greedy owner to refurbish this place and make improvments but NO, Not with this particular property and this owner!
THeir activity program is bad joke! The boat trip they mentioned in their package is bascially an awful trip in a very old filthy ready to sink boat and the whole trip last for 5 minutes, not even worth to go in.
The factroy visit and the Jeep safari is of the same bad standard and the huge piece of land they talk and brag about is not part of the resort but part of their plantations, so don't imagine that your kids will run and enjoy playing in a big piece of land dedicated to resort guests!

Not a place for family with small kids: the bathroom of our so called Deluxe room was full of mugles and the whole room was smelling of damped air and muggle and when we mentioned that to them they simply refused accepting and came with rediculous explantion that it is the smell of lemon grass!!! The blanket given to our children's extra bed were so thin that I have to give them their jackets and out door clothes to prevent them from shivering!

This resort has a great location; set in a spice plantation the resort offers a lot of activities like a spice plantation tour where you can spot hornbills. however, a must do activity is a trip to "kailasam", which is an hours' drive from the hotel enroute to munnar. the resort owner has a 1500 acre plantation at Kailasam and the location is just amazing.

Overall a nice resort with good facilities. however the food was nothign great and the rooms are not located close to the restaurant.. so if you order for room service be sure that the food will be served cold.

However, one thing that the resort needs to work on is basic housekeeping. the room they offered me first had cockroaches and on complaints they shifted me to a better room. but, i had seen all guests complaining about the rooms.

In all, the resort has a great location, but needs housekeeping improvements.

Very well designed hotel. great plantation and lush green. it can easily qualify as one of the most eco friendly resorts. there are cardmom and other spices planted within the resort and offers a great tour to spice guarden as well.

you can stay in rooms right from a standard rooms to honeymoon sweets and even tree house.

there's a well designed pool in the middle of the property.

An ideal destination for relaxation close to nature

While on honeymoon to Kerala for 10 days, me and my wife had stayed in Carmelia Haven for 2 days. I would say that the service we got here was not at par as that we received during our stay in Kerala. There is no doubt that the place is really beautiful & the food is delicious. We had selected a deluxe room and we were very disappointed when we actually saw. The room was very basic but it lacked cleanliness. There were cobwebs at corners. The room was stinking a bit, so we had to ask for a room freshener from the room service. They had said that there would be 24 hour hot water supply, but we found that the water supply wasn't hot all the times. We felt the blankets there were of a low an cheap quality.

So I would say that we were not satisfied with the room as such. The rest of the resort is good, the ambience of both the coffee shop and the restaurant were really good.

I will not visit this place again, thats for sure.

Hi,

We were on our honeyMoon. After coming from Munnar i visited Thekkady during that time i stayed at this Heaven..!!! Well first of all i would make everyone clear that this hotel is no way near to Thekkady.. it's take alomst an hour to reach. Well this Resorts take's your breath away..!! As amazing beauty in itself. I would suggest everyone that.. please...stay for astleast 2 days over der.. then only you could really feel the beauty of the Resort. If you have to go to visit thekkady then please make it in morning and then only return back in evening b'cos you can't make 2 trips in a day to the Resort as it is very far and tiring journey.
When i came from Munnar i directly visited thekkady and then in the night went to hotel which was a wise decission.

Nyways.. i really love the resort...and was really unhappy b'cos i stayed only 1 Night.

1) Located 25 kms before Thekkady between Munnar-Thekkady in a tea estate and spice plantations. Its adjacent to thekkady forests.

2) Service and food is poor except the coffee shop. Go only for room service food. Restaurant food is not good.

3) Tree Top cottage is an exclusive cottage and must stay place here for couples looking for spending quality time.

4) Private lake available for boating 23 kms before resort on Munar -Thekady road.
