The lay out of the hotel and rooms is very attractive and there is a nice pool. The restaurant is OK but the staff have poor language skills which was a bit frustrating, Food varied and good choice but not licensed if you want a beer you have to order room service and drink it in your room

On the feedback form I suggested that the restaurant staff be given shoes as part of their uniform as the waiting staff all had shoes which were barely connected to their soles. The staff who read this seemed annoyed

Bit out of town but really not much in the town any way

The photos make it look amazing and it is nice, but not amazing, but I think that is because it is a very professional chain unlike most of the hotchpotch of India. The thatched cottages, are definitely the rooms to have. I was going to give the hotel an average rating but under pressure from the wife upped it a point as she really liked the room and situation, very quiet and restful. To be honest it is difficult to put your finger on it why I personally didn’t click with it but to me it felt rather like a hotel chain which it is, so it is a bit unfair really to knock it for that. The only real complaint was the restaurant, down the hill there is an amazing one at 1/3 the price.

Room Tip: looking up at the rooms attached to the hotel the aspect did not look very appealing

The resort is away from the town and from periyar wild life sanctuary both so for the price there are much better options available.
The rooms are very small ,and since its full made of wood it has only one door and one window ,it gets very dark inside and natural light is lacking .the roof is vey low making it a claustrophobic room.
The room service is quick but basic training of waiters is not up to the mark, they will give food and not close the door of room ,just walk out and things like this.
It's a stay if u don't have an option and if u get some great discount .

Room Tip: Take a suit ,don't take standard ,deluxe room

Well designed hotel with most of the rooms made of wood ...gives you a feeling as if you are staying in a tree house .Rooms are a bit small with limited amenities in it .
A beautiful restaurant but the food was bad .
Must say well maintained lawns with a pool surrounded by Hammocks and Palm leaf shades with seating arrangement .
Good hotel for a overnight stay with room tariff being on the lower side
Caution-Beware of the Monkeys ...they can land up inside ur bed .

I was hoping to see or at least hear some animals near the resort as this places shares the boundary wall of the Periyar Tiger reserve. I could see the jungle from my window. The hotel is very well placed in the sense it is very close to the lake and the in house travel house arranges for an early morning jeep safari which is very good. Was lucky to see the elusive bear at 6.30 am as well as some bison, elephants and sambars. The rooms are nice and warm and the staff is always ready to help you if you need them.

Room Tip: Cottage next to the jungle

We had a well appointed room, great food, excellent sightseeing, terrific company of the staff, all together a great experience. Wish holidays are longer! Our best wishes to the team. Hotel is very well located - touching across the Periyar Forest. It makes it really wonderful, as it is a little away from the market, but at a walking distance.
As the name suggests, the entire hotel is made up of Wood. Rooms, cieling, all the walls are made up of wood. It gives you a feeling that you are in cottage. Very nicely maintained. The service staff is also quite friendly and warm. It is good hotel at value price, considering it offers really good landscaped gardens, inhouse activiies ( they had arrange a common bonfire), good restaurant, swimming pool etc.

Things to keep in mind / watch out:
1. Jain Food is a difficulty ( guess, it is difficult across kerala)
2. Standard rooms are small in size and dimly lit.
3. If the hotel is full, the restaurant service is slow.
4. Hot water is available only on specific timings ( morning and evening 4 hours)

However, considering all and everything, we really enjoyed our stay at Sterling Woods. It was one of the Best, in our holiday in Kerala !
