“Overhyped”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Heard much about Periyar tiger reserve and my huby waited for 3 hrs ina queue to get to the boat ride for us.But what we saw or experienced was not at all exciting , enthralling & definitely not worth the wait.We just saw 5 sets of elephant families and few birds which was very disappointing. So please research before you put in so much time & energy for the boat ride.My verdict :NOT worth etal.

“Very busy!”
Reviewed November 29, 2012

We visited the reserve twice but both times the boats were full! Taking a boat trip is the only way to get a view of the wildlife. We got a distant view of some bison and saw some monkeys which was exciting in itself.

“The jeep safari was the best”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

We opted for the whole days package. 3 hour jeep safari, 3 hours trek, canoe ride with breakfast and lunch. We saw lots of wildlife from our jeep, inspite of their being many other jeeps along the route. We often met the same jeeps along the route and we were all excited for eachother when we stopped to see any wildlife. We would recommend taking binoculars to get a good view of distant wildlife.
For the trek we had a brilliant guide Sandosh who was very knowledgable and adjusted the pace of the trek for my level of fitness especially up the steep hills. We heard elephants but could not get to see them as they were deep in some bamboo trees and can be dangerous if confronted. We would recommend the jeep safari if you are short of time or not fit for the trek through the jungle.
